Get Thee To World Superbike Monterey, California, July 12-14

Itís special enough by being the only time World Superbike comes to the USA, but being at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on the Monterey Peninsula makes it even more special. Sometimes itís hot and sunny, sometimes itís cool and foggy, and sometimes those two change places every half hour. In short itís a magical place to watch motorcycles race, and when thatís done for the day itís an even better place to hang out and bike- and people-watch down on Cannery Row. Set aside a few hours for the amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium, followed by a nice piece of fish on Fishermanís Wharf. Maybe youíll see the MOrons, even? We wouldnít miss it.

After round Six, Alvaro Bautista and his new Ducati Panigale V4 are leading the Kawasaki ZX-10RR of Jonathan Rea, 300 points to 259, but thereís Rimini and Silverstone to go before they get to Laguna Seca in mid-July. We hope anything can happen.

To buy tickets, to learn more Ė including about onsite camping, as the track is inside a county park Ė please click here.

Certainly a great race...it would be better if there were a few Americans sprinkled in. After years where Americans were competitive and sometimes dominate... now nothing. What happened?

Not too exciting deciding which Italian or Spanish rider will win and finish second and third. About 60% of the field come these two countries.

Hey AMA develop a feeder system maybe like the Italians and Spanish motorcycle federation have, they know how to develop riders.

Yeah I like Rossi but I would sure like to have an American to root for too. Not a Spanish or Italian problem but we (Americans) need to get off our couches and put our video games down .

Wow what a corner, I guess this photo really shows it well.
I've heard a bit about Laguna Seca over the years but now I'm sitting up and taking notice. The local track in Western Australia is also a three dimensional track, it too throws challenges to the riders.

The only thing wrong with a perfect ride to work is that you end up at work.
