Carb Breathing Question: Open vs. Velocity Stack Screens vs. Pod Filters?

Background: Running a '08 CARB'ed Bonneville with OEM carb setup. In the next couple of weeks, once it gets warm enough to wrench, I will be switching over to Keihin Racing carbs.

Question: Which is better for breathing and which is "safer" for the bike? Open mouth stacks, velocity screened stacks (the metal type with 3 screens 2 screens of 18x14 mesh + one screen of 200microns) or regular K&N pod filters?

I am NOT looking to swap KN out for uni or anything like that. Just advise from the three options given.

Lets hear what you say and back it up with some facts...

Thanks

Hi, i'm not familiar with the velocity stacks with the 3 stage screening. I'd be interested to know the supplier of those. Depends on the amount of and type of riding that you do in regards to that type of filtering system. They could be perfect for a track type situation but foul easily in daily riding. Rain, dust etc. Mine came with UNI filters. I didn't like them as they are sticky and messy. I don't trust the foam either after have some Finer Filter pods disintegrate on me before. I've gone with K&N pods and all seems good so far, plus i already had the cleaning/re-oiling system left over from my last bike.
