I currently own a 2010 R3T and love it, but I just wonder if Triumph could make a Touring version of the Thunderbird as well. It could use the same saddlebags and straight back pipes instead of the upswept ones. Put the R3T rear fender on it They couuld even use the entire front fork assembly, headlamps spotlights, fender and all including the windshield. This is the very same way Harley Davidson creates so many models out of the parts bins. Different wheels, perhaps 16 inch laced spoke wheels could be used to give it more of a vintage look. Maybe some people are put-off by the sheer size and massiveness as well as the looks of the R3T and they might just be more attracted to a Smaller Thunderbird version with the same touring capabilities.

My Bird is the SE model, which is Triumph's version of a touring machine and exactly why I bought it.It comes stock with a removeable windshield,a removeable sissy bar with a passenger's backrest on it,a removeable luggage rack,ABS,removeable soft leather saddle bags,Triumph's version of a touring seat, floor boards for the rider and passenger, and has an optional rider's back rest which I also have.I did, however, add a leather trunk attached onto the luggage rack so I can carry a few extra things.Overall, the machine isn't all that uncomfortable when traveling any distance.I've done 200 miles straight without stopping and didn't have to get off it.But after that 200 miles, and like any MC built,ya gotta get off it and stretch.Ya do the same in a car.HOWEVER,and for whatever reason,Triumph doesn't make that model anymore. Why?? I don't know. But if ya shop around,ya may find one sitting on some dealer's showroom floor.Overall,I have no complaints.other then the piss pot poor mileage tires that comes on all the Birds.Dave!!!
