I spent about 10 minutes swapping my Dart Classic screen out for a new Dart Piranha. The Piranha is slightly shorter.

Classic

Piranha

Putting the stickers on just so took the longest. ;)

I've been thinking about adding a dashcam to the bike, but not really sure how. I hardwired my car's dashcams into the cigarette lighter circuit so they turn on when the car turns on and turn off when the car is off.

With the bike, I was planning on tapping into the fuse that powers the DRLs. Easy enough. But the question is where do I mount the cam? Most windscreens I've seen are rounded and will not provide a flat enough surface area for the dashcam's mount to adhere to.

I also thought of adding a small plate hidden below the headlights and mount the dashcam to that. But I'm sure bugs and other crap will eventually cloud up the lense.

Has anyone attempted to mount a dashcam onto a bike?

If it’s just for forward stuff, you could mount it to the bottom of your Triple trees. I have seen someone mount GoPros there before and it had a pretty nice forward view. Or you could maybe mount to the flat surface in between the gauges and the flatscreen if it had an adjustable mounting point.

Went out today for the first ride. Met up with a buddy on a Thruxton R. Took it easy trying to get used to the bike. I'm still not that comfortable with slow speed 90 degree turns. Do I stay in 2nd and feather the clutch in the friction zone and burn the crap out of the clutch? Do I downshift to 1st for these slow (due to traffic) 10-15mph turns?

Total mileage was 175 miles. 45mpg.

I noticed something about the bike that's a bit concerning. Can you guys do me a favor and see if this happens to your bike as well? Start bike in Neutral. Let it idle. Put both hands on the grips. While idling in neutral, pull clutch in. Then let clutch out. Pull clutch in. Let clutch out. Do you feel a lot more vibration with the clutch out? When I pull the clutch in, all the vibrations are gone. But when I release the clutch lever, I feel the vibration. My buddy's Thruxton doesn't do that. My Ninja doesn't do that. The bikes I've owned in the past didn't do that. Does your bike's handlebar vibrate more with the clutch released?

You are not going to burn your clutch out feathering it and using the friction zone for low speed maneuvers. That's exactly how you're supposed to do it and the system is designed with it in mind. If you want extra stability you can try dragging the rear brake a bit to put more load on the engine.

I noticed the vibration thing, too, when installing asv levers. I hope it isn't a design flaw w neutral in the gear box.

I would go for the first gear. I don’t think you could stall it on 2nd anyway with 15 mph.

Someone reported to me the same vibration thing. I do have the same. But it’s barely noticeable. The other guy went to the dealer with that and he said it’s nothing to worry about.

Changed my air filter. Didn’t get the orange clip seated and had fuel spill all over. Realized it can go on 180 degrees and seats one way better than the other. As the tank is lowered the fuel line rotates to seat in its resting position. Realized the clip sits better one way over the other. When removing it I popped the clip off so I didn’t know which way it installed better, due to the fuel hose rotation.

Engine was choppy on decel and was having intermittent starting issues after doing 42k mile service. Did 12 min adaptation reset and it solved both issues. Not only that, but I just topped off at gas station and realized I averaged 49mpg (166.7 milest / 3.39 gallons) commuting [emoji16]

All hail the adaptation reset!

What is the '12 min adaptation reset'?

It’s a way to force the ECU to re adapt to the environment and get the most optimal air fuel ratio.

To do it the engine must be cold and preferably somewhere with good ventilation.

During the process one MUST NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE. Change in throttle position during the procedure will cancel it.

Turn on the engine and let it idle until the cooling fan turns on. Then wait an additional 12 mins. Turn off the bike once the time has passed.

Wait for the “fax machine” sounds to finish.

That’s all!

Next time you start up the bike you’ll enjoy a smoother ride with no start up issues or snatchy throttle [emoji16]

Thank you very much! I'll give it a shot when I put the Arrow on.

Installed Bosch relay to power up devices while engine runs. Triggered the relay off the license plate light. Tapped the fused power wire to the pos terminal on the starter solenoid. Street Triple RS

I really want to do it. But afraid I may upset some neighbors.

What is the definition of a "cold bike"? If a bike hasn't been ridden in 60 minutes, is that enough to be considered "cold"? I prefer riding to a desolate area to do this.

Townhouses. Each house is about 5ft apart from each other.

I have a 2Bros slip on. I found it really really loud. Ended up purchasing the baffle for it. It's much quieter now, but I still don't want to upset anyone.

Is it really only 12 minutes? Or does the 12 minute countdown begin once the radiator fan comes on? I've read different things on the forum...but thought the 12 min countdown begins once the fan kicks in.

frustrated !

The suns out, it is warm and dry. So why has the new RS been in the garage since the weekend?
When I got back from the last ride, it just went over 500 miles and there was a message "next service -3 miles"
So the 1st service is booked for Monday comming.
I am not sure I can wait that long !!!

Same here. Rained 2 weekends in a row. Such a cold May we're having.

With every bike I've own, I installed led lights for night time riding. I always leave the lights on white (non blinking). And as an even bigger dork, I have a high viz vest I put on top of my jacket once it gets dark.

I don't know if the lights or the high viz vest makes any difference, but I just want to be as visible as possible at night.

My other bikes simply have lights that are one color and have a manual on/off switch that gets double taped to the bike.

This is the first time I've installed lights that can strobe, be dimmable, have 15+ colors, etc all controlled by a key fob. I hope it'll be as reliable/durable as the old school lights.

Here's a video of the lights after I installed them. I'm pretty sure using the strobe mode will get one pulled over real quick and possibly get in a lot of trouble for "impersonating a police officer".

Had my configuration just like your but slightly differ but ain't sure whether the photo taken is clear. Added a few things; R&G radiotar guard, mesh seat, givi top box and custom rack, add-on custom double bubble windshield, big foot for my side stand, cnc bar end mirrors, hand guards and some stickers. Looks dull in an enclosed area but will be sure to take some in daylight.

SC Project Exhaust and Triumph Tail Tidy

I ended up putting on the SC Project exhaust on the bike about a week ago. Today I finally put on the Triumph official tail tidy. Super high quality. In the second picture you can see the part that I ended up bypassing to actually make it tidy. I think Triumph includes it in case people want an upgrade over the stock plastic piece but still be DOT compliant. Which is the reason why this tail tidy also includes places to put up those stupid plastic red reflectors on the side and the bottom of the license plate. I will pull out a dremel and trim them out maybe.

I need to get rid of those turn signals and swap them out for LEDs.

Looks good, man! Did you put anything in place of the passenger pegs?

Really random issue.

So I am out for a ride, I've been riding the bake for about 60 miles, and an back with in 10 miles of home.
I notice that the headlight is on full beam (I ride with the "riding lights on" so this should not be possible) and the left indicator is going.
I cannot cancel the indicator. And I cannot indicate right.
And I cannot set the headlight low beam or get the riding lights on.
:surprise:
So I stopped. Turned the the bike off for a minute. Turned it back on, everything seems to boot up OK, but still the headlight is on full beam and the left hand indicator is still going !
So time to call the dealer in the morning. :frown2:

BTW, the bike went from 7XX miles to 8xx miles while I was out, so an extra 1000 rev to play with. But I am sure this was not the cause.
