Evening All, just wanted to say 'Hi'.

I've joined up because I recently bought one of Norman Hyde's old demo Hinckley Bonnevilles for a project. It's featured in their catalogue and came dripping in nice NH bits (AP brake, Ikon suspension, 904cc motor).

I'm going to take inspiration from the Mecatwin TT bikes and the Hammarhead Industies 'Jack Pine', hopefully it'll be good fun when it's finished.

I've recently fitted some CR35 carbs (I know everyone raves about the FCR's but Sean at British Customs advised that the CR35s were easier to live with) and it needs a bit of fettling.

It's off to Bob Farnham soon for a bit of headwork. Bob's advised that I get some Predator pipes, with that in mind if anyone has a set of Thruxton header pipes they want to sell for a reasonable price please let me know. I'm going to get the headers ceramic coated, so I don't mind if they're a bit scruffy.

Cheers,

Dan.

Blimey! Thanks for the interest. I'll try and work out this posting with pictures lark. Hopefully this will be a picture of the bike when it left Norman Hyde.

The registration shown in the picture (L 6 EAT) is a personal plate which came on the bike. I've removed it and put back on the original registration VO 02 DZE, which can be seen in the Norman Hyde catalogue wearing various different sets of bodywork.

And hopefully these will be some pictures of the bike when I got it. The previous owner put standard'ish bodywork back on it because he found the Cafe Racer riding position too uncomfortable, unfortunately the original bodywork didn't come with the bike.

It was in a bit of a sorry state (it had a couple of owners after NH and before me), however it was cheap.

The front brake was leaking and even after replacing the hose and bleeding thoroughly it was still very spongy. I've since fitted a Rocket 3 mastercylinder (14mm bore as opposed to the standard 11mm), which is a direct swap for the Bonny one, this has helped brake feel enormously.

The Amal carbs were also leaking, there's a bit if discolouration to the engine cases from the leaking petrol but I'm going to leave this for a bit of 'patina', at least for now. The CR35s seem to be able to hold petrol without any drips.

I've replaced the rear Ikons with Bitubo shocks, which offer more adjustability and so far have been a great improvement in terms of ride comfort.

You can also see that the previous owner butchered the sidepanels in an attempt to help airflow to the carbs. These have also been replaced. The tank has a few small dents in it but these will be sorted out by the paint shop.

The bike is now stripped down for modding. The bodywork is in my living room (apologies to the girlfriend) and will be painted matt black soon. I've ordered some alloy mudguards but these will need to be cut down and modded to fit.

Bob Farnham will sort the engine, but I need to find some Thruxton headers first, so if anyone can help with this that would be great.

I'll post some more pictures after it's done, but this will be springtime (Feb/March) at the earliest.

Cheers,

Dan.
