I prefer to tour alone. I went for a day ride with a bunch of friends. It drove me nuts. Some people were charging ahead and some were lagging behind and for some reason I felt the need to keep everyone together. If I ride along I don't have to do that.

I will do it for an overnight. Its okay. I think I prefer having a friend or my wife along. Usually I eat dinner at a bar where I can hopefully chat with a few people. Then at my hotel I'm checking in on FB and so forth.

5,800 miles! That would be a long time alone
