KitNYC, you'll be missed

The news today the Kit died Monday was a shocker and hit me a bit harder than I'd expect. I'm not going to pretend I knew him well. I've not met him in person. But since we are both on the moderator team we interacted that way, and I liked him. We were bantering just last week with dark, cynical humor which I enjoyed much.

I wasn't going to start a thread about him, because I was going to leave that to someone who knew him better. But, I was just looking at his Facebook feed and his friends comments and I found pictures of him that didn't match at all the guy I have envisioned in my mind at all. Kit was an ex-rocker, who would have thought?

So, I thought I'd post some pictures of him I found. He was one of the good ones around here, it's a sad loss that he's gone.

Wow, what a shocker. I too did not know Kit, but when you're on the forum for some time, you get to know, somewhat, members. Very sorry to hear.

Yeah - it's a strange feeling. I've known him for ten years, even though I never met him. He was a damned good guy, and went through some really hard times. I guess those times took their toll more than any of us realised. As always, you just don't know until it's too late, and then you're left wondering what you could have done.

I very nearly managed to make a side trip to Texas to meet him and Sweatmachine, but at the time it was just slightly too difficult, and now of course I realise that it would have been the easiest thing in the world.

Well, everything seems to be in order then.

So saddened to hear this. He's been more than willing to offer help to all on this forum, including myself, and with a bit of wit to boot. It's folk like him who make this forum great.

He helped a lot of people with their bikes - I know he used to help his local riding buddies out all the time. And he loved cats. I respect him a lot, just for that.

Wow, a real shock. I found him knowledgeable but always polite. A sad loss.

I only did this to get all green buttons on my panel

RIP

He had his trials and tribulations that would bring somebody to their knees, and he kept going.
Always helped no matter how stupid your (my) problem was.

Wow this is awful news.
I actually met him a couple years back, sold him a couple of parts while I was living in Austin.
Hung out at his place chatting with him for some time.
Super nice guy who offered to help me with my bike anytime I needed.

I'm speechless! BonnieBlack, thanks for posting this or I wouldn't have known. Is there any more information about what happened? I too thought of Kit as a friend and always made a point to read his posts because he inevitably had such interesting mechanical issues. And I'm much obliged for the pictures, since he wasn't anything like I had pictured. RIP Kit, I will miss you, we all will.
