No spark

Got my fuel problem sorted out then the spark died. I bypassed the ignition cutout by grounding the neutral switch wire but still have no spark on all three cylinders. I forget the thread but someone said you should have 12 volts at the coils - I only have 10.8 volts at all three coils. What would cause that? The manual makes no mention of it.

My experience has been that they need a fully charged battery to fire. Sounds like your battery needs charged or is bad.

Bad contacts in the ignition switch. Wiggle the key and see if the voltage fluctuates, or measure the voltage drop between the feed going into the switch (white) and the feed coming back out (brown).

The battery is fully charged 12.5 volts and as a backup I used a jumper battery also however the starter motor seems a bit slow so a bad connection somewhere makes sense. Thanks.

Put the positive probe of your volt meter on the positive terminal of the battery. Put the negative probe on the wire lug connected to the battery. Key on. Read the voltage drop of the connection. Move the negative probe to the other end of the battery cable, at the solenoid. Read the voltage drop. Keep marching down the wiring until you find the big drop.

That said, 10.8 volts at the coils should be fine...

Found where someone sprayed heavy grease in to the main junction in the headlight housing. Cleaning that got me another half volt but no spark.

Found this today. Now I know why the resistance value for the pick up coil was good. I'm going to rejoin the coil to its mount with epoxy.

I noticed that there are two different kinds of ignition coils on my bike. Is the #2 coil a Nology?

All the Nology coils I've seen are clearly marked as such.
