What the Heck Daytona 675 Check Engine Light

I just bought after a tone of research the Daytona 675. I live in Spokane, WA drove 5 hours to the nearesr dealer in Issaquah, WA. yesterday to pick it up. I trucked the bike home. The only time it was driven was at the dealer ship to my truck. I unloaded last night. Started the bike and rode another 15 feet to my driveway literally. This morning I wake up to ride and my check engine light is on. I go to place it in gear and the bike dies.

I don't know what the heck is going on. I read the manual it says take it to the dealer as the light is not flashing as the manual states. Is there any one out there that can give a quick fix. It cost us $150.00 in fuel to get to the dealer and I sure as heck don't want to drive all the way back.

SOME ONE PLEASE HELP

Ouch.

I've only heard of one thing on the D675 causing the engine light to come on (a friend owns one - I don't). Listen out for a whirr or click - something having difficulty around the exhaust. Apparently there's a valve of some sort that gets stuck - should be a warranty item.

But if the bike's new and never ridden, I'd be tempted to return it as faulty or not fit for purpose.

On older Triumphs the light turns itself off after three hot/cold cycles. I don't know if that's the case for the D675, but might be worth a go?

It is a brand new bike? Ouch! Are there any other symptoms? With I-90 the closest dealership to you, you are a prime candidate for TuneBoy and a factory maintenance manual. You would be able to plug in and read the fault code to know exactly what is happening.

I am only speculating about this, but the first place I would look is a battery problem. Also, I would pull off the tank and look for disconnected electrical connectors. Also, the fuel connector can be a big PITA to get hooked up properly, so maybe it is not connected as it should be. Without more information, I am only guessing. Good luck. I hope it turns out to be really simple, because the bike is a complete joy to ride.

WILL,

Okat so there is a rookie move for you. I popped the stand up hit first gear and low and behold I was off and running. I am in the initial break in phase and just took it for about a ten minute ride to get a heat cycle in. The Check engine light is now off. Bike runs great. I guess the whole forum can just call me the FNG when it comes to this bike.

You are right it is a blast to ride though!!! Thanks all. I think it is good to go. Keeping my fingers toes and anything else that I can cross, crossed!!

Oh, one other thing. If you put the bike in gear with the sidestand down it will kill the motor immediately.
