Daytona Fork Seal

Hi, Daytona 955i 2005, a year ago I fitted new fork seals and now one is leaking, the other fork is perfect. From EBAY I got a set of SHOWE fork seals (Made in the UK apparently) fitted one to the fork that was leaking and reassembled but it still leaks slightly. The fork tube is perfect and not pitted but it did have a tiny amount of play on the bushes, new bushes ordered and should have them in a few days. My question is which side of the seal faces the oil as both sides you can see a spring and they are a different design to one I am replacing, if the photos come out large enough you should see one side has numbers on it, and around the out side there is a ridge to one edge so to my thinking the thinner part goes in first unless some one knows better? Cheers Steve.

IMO the side with the large gap goes down, the smaller gap spring side goes up.

That said, unless there is a weather seal that goes above the seal you pictured I wouldn't use the item pictured. The gap will collect water and the small spring will rust out, probably on the sooner side time wise.
