We've been seeing a lot of posts with gobbly-gook (to be technical) like 😂 in the post when using a desktop. For instance https://www.triumphrat.net/1959-t120...post2003797690

What is happening is that members are using emojis when using their mobile devices. Many of these devices will convert even text emoticons even a text one like <img src="https://www.triumphrat.net/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" /> to emojis. What we are seeing (on desktop versions at least) is the unicode code for the emoji.

In HTML, if you enter the unicode code for the character (otherwise known as "gobbly-gook"), like &#x1f602;, you'll see the emoji. Check out https://edcallahan.com/emoticon_test.html

So a fix seems possible.

Is it possible to adjust the site to handle these appropriately?

It's something we are aware of, but there isn't any plugin already written for the software we use that would fix this for us, meaning it's something we'd have to create from scratch.

So it's on the wishlist, but isn't something we expect to be done soon. Techs who know how to write software like that are tied up in fixes.

I'd like to renew my request that a the bug be fixed. Mobile usage is only getting more and more prevalent.

There is a "fix" in a way coming, but it's part of a larger overhaul of site software. Don't have access to a timeline I'm afraid, but it's on the horizon
