Here in Australia our plates are much smaller, but the police are even more finicky, picking up on angles of plates, width of indicators, etc. and whenever you get followed by a police bike you know you're going to get stopped for something, even a routine check.
That's what happens when you live in a country where there's only about 1 bike per 500 cars on the road. On most days commuting to my office I don't see any other bikes at all, so the few that the police do see get lots of attention.
They have to be the largest licence plates in the world by far !

Modern guts in barn-find clothing

Just finished "retro"-mod project to my '16 1200R. Was shooting for Triumph's modern tech reliability and performance wrapped in a barn-find vibe. There is a ton you can do with these machines with a little imagination. So much fun!

Pipes are the new GP Exhaust from British Customs. They look and sound great. Here is the link.

Fly screen is not OEM - its is from Rizoma along with front fender, grips and bar end mirrors. Seat and tank strap are custom. I stripped the tank and treated it with a blackening agent to age it a bit before painting on era-appropriate logo and pinstripes. Did the same for the fly screen and fender.

Since the side covers are plastic, I just painted those to match the metal look of the tank and fender. Too expensive to try to fabricate aluminum replacements. Pretty happy with way everything turned out.

Good work in customizing your bike! You only need to get rid of those ugly OEM turn signals and you're good to go.
Can you post more pictures please?

Sure, I will post some more pics in a a couple days. The turn signals are the one mod I am reluctant to make. There are some great looking swaps available, but I consider the safety attributes of the large, very visible, OEM signals more important than the look of the retro options I have seen. Most are much smaller, and less conspicuous. I did swap out the orange lenses for clear though which improved the look a bit.

Would you consider redoing your seat with an old leather jacket or trench coat from a second hand store. Get that weathered look to match your theme. I rather the larger indicators, the smaller ones look cheap and nasty. What tail light did you go with?

I fully support your "security" approach - its the smart way to ride. However, trust me when I say that the Rizoma club signals that I installed are way brighter and more visible than the OEM. The led technology used by Rizoma can't be matched by the standard bulbs on the Triumph OEM turn signals.

Finally - How to reverse mount the Monza cap on these bikes. Easy mod. Two minutes max. Thanks to Sonny Burnett. Thought you all would want to know.
