New Purchase - Dealer expectations

I purchased a used 96 T-Bird several years ago. Long time member but very first post. I live in a town who has just gotten their first Triumph dealer. My closest dealer up to now has been a six hour drive away. When T-Bird was purchased from a Yamaha dealer and I have been happy doing my own maintenance. When the new dealer showed up, I bought a new 2013 Thruxton! I was one of the first customers to purchase a Triumph from this dealer. The dealer is a large multi- brand dealer too. There were, ah delays, as the dealer admittedly struggled with the paperwork. While its been over a month and I have received an invoice from the finance company i have received nothing from Triumph. Long winded post to get to the question but: will I be receiving any welcome packet, or other communication from Triumph USA? I had the funny feeling my paperwork was not processed normally. Yes, I did quiz the dealer today and got the expected "no, Triumph won't send you a welcome letter or anything". I believe that Triumph markets better than that. Heck, GM sent me stuff when I bought a truck. Am I being paranoid? I just want to get the full benefit of being a new customer. No expectations there really, I just did not want to be unregistered with Triumph in case of recall or maintenance issues, etc..

Chances are triumph doesn't even know you exist lol. I've you're expecting some fancy letter signed by the CEO thanking you for your purchase you're going to be disappointed.

All I got from triumph when I purchased my thruxton new two years ago was a copy of the Triumph Magazine my dealer had sitting around.

Sure it would be nice to get something in the mail, but unlike GM which is a multi-billion dollar corporation, Triumph likely cannot afford to hire a whole department with the sole purpose of writing thank you letters to new owners.

Just ride the bike, and keep a good relationship with the dealer should you ever need them. That's about the best you can expect from the deal.

Enjoy the new bike!

Its not like buying a new car, you get a zipper pouch with some stuff in it but that's about it, if you have issues with the dealer, Triumph USA would more than likely want to hear about it, so call them if there are probs. Its usually down to how good or bad their service dept. is

Re: New Purchase - Dealer expectations

Um a couple months ago when I bought my Thruxton they gave me a little zipper kind of briefcase Triumph welcome packet with manuals and break in info. Kind of looked like a laptop case. In the past 2 months I've gotten about 3 surveys. One from Triumph and 2 from the dealership.

I'm assuming you didn't get this because it's a new dealership. It happens. Don't fret. Be happy you have an amazing bike. Sorry the buying experience wasn't what you expected.

As aries suggests you should receive an email from Triumph thanking you for your purchase along with a survey after purchase - I believe 3 or 6 months after. This is your chance to voice your praise and/or concerns about your purchase experience and your dealer. My experience was nothing short of awesome (thanks Ridge Motorsports!) and they called a couple of times post-purchase to make sure everything was to my satisfaction and to see if I had any issues that needed to be addressed before the survey.

Thanks for the replies. I love the bike and I will not worry so much about the process.

I actually got an email from the CEO of Triumph Motorcycles North America when I bought mine Though it was more a survey than anything else...

From the email:
"Dear Mr J Cormier,

Thank you for your recent purchase of a Triumph Thruxton A1.

(survey stuff...).

Yours sincerely,
Greg Heichelbech
CEO Triumph Motorcycles North America
Triumph Motorcycles Limited"

I purchased my thruxton last summer and received a personal phone call from the CEO of triumph in England. He offered to fly me overseas to get my input on the bike. Then he offered to ..

actually, i didn't get jacksh!t from triumph, nor did I expect anything really. Just an MSO mailed to me about a month after purchasing the bike, which seemed rather long to wait. Couldn't get my bike titled with the DMV until the MSO came, so I drove around 6 weeks with no registration.
