55 T15 Restoration

Hello all. I am a new member and the current custodian of a fairly complete 1955 Terrier 150cc (T15) which was the predecessor of the Cub (200cc T20) and has a lot of parts in common. The Terrier has been stored since 1964 and has a lot of original paint that I hope to retain. I’m tearing it down and so far no bad surprises. My current problem is figuring out how the gear shift indicator cable from the “dash” (nancelle?) attaches to the shifter cam plate in the transmission. I know there is a 4-6inch control rod that I am missing. So what I am looking for is to contact someone who may be able to help me figure out what part I need or how I can make a control rod. I’m pretty sure I can make it work but would prefer to do it as original. The other part I know I need is a kick stand. Thanks for your time and I hope your Triumph is around in 60 years. Bob

Do you know about Greystone Enterprises?

Thanks for the link. Got my part .... 73 British pounds when all was said and done, half of which was for delivery.

Kick stand will be the same as a plunger cub and should be easy to find?
Greystones probably.
Don't convince yourself that a swing arm one will fit. The plunger one is smaller.

I just had a google and I share your pain!! Quite a search.
I will keep an eye open

There is a guy on the Facebook tiger cub page who is in usa LA.
He has a load of cub parts that he wants to get rid off- all in one load.

But he does have a plunger frame in his photos- you could contact him and ask if he'd be willing to make an exception for a stand?

Thanks again Dave....appreciate your help. I found a Triumph Tiger Cub and Terrier Forum on Facebook which again is in the UK but didn't come across the listing you mentioned. I will continue my search....good advice on the plunger frame stand only.

Iím still surprised someone is selling a brand new Triumph Tiger Cub T20 Terrier T15 Gear Indicator Cable To Cam plate Control Rod, even if it does cost £35!

Thanks Dave/Othen...I will follow up with Meridin on the side stand. Yes, the gear indicator control rod is scarce. Now that I have it, it looks like I need some sort of Clevis pin to attach the brass end of the control rod to the cam plate. I was thinking of getting/making a pin of the appropriate size and length (About 3/16 x 5/8 long and putting a washer on each side of the brass end of the rod to take up any slack. Do you think I'm on the right track?? Unless, of course, either of you know where I might get the original part...or even if you can tell me what the original part looks like. It doesn't show in the shop manual or parts catalog that I have unearthed or at Greystone or Draganfly. (I think there might be a couple of versions of the cam plate...mine just has a hole with a rebate on the rear side that looks like it would receive the head of a clevis pin - with the control rod being fixed to the part of the pin that would extend through the front side of the cam plate.)

I have just about completed the tear down and removing 64 years of accumulated grease and grime concretion, and am very much looking forward to the build. So far I have managed to retain the original paint. It is not without flaws but the patina pleases me immensely. I was surprised that even the paint on the inside of the chain guard was still intact.

Draganfly had most of the bits I needed such as engine gaskets, points and electrical connectors...currently enroute to this colony by Royal Mail Thanks again for your help.
