Hello everybody :Wave

I decided to part with my 1979 Triumph T140E after more than 3 years of careful use and tidy maintenance.
Overall, the bike is in good original condition and working fine.

I would like to say thank you to all forum members who kindlly gave me good advices and friendly support to my inquiries when I needed help to sort out the bike.

Un grand merci à toi StuartMac pour ton aide précieuse et ton immense savoir sur les anciennes Triumph.

Here is a link to a small video posted on You Tube showing my bike:

The bike is a pending sale, someone already made a reservation.

Good Bye to you all :wave

Goodbye Frederic,
Someone will purchase a beautiful and very well looked after bike, they are lucky.

I must admit that I quite liked the idea that there was a little bit of England still in Aquitaine (post 1453), but I suppose all things change.

Take good care of yourself, it has been a pleasure meeting you online.

Best Regards
Peg.

Responses like Peg’s and everyone else too is why I fell in love with the BVI 25 years ago, drive a Land Rover and ride a Triumph. Doesn’t hurt that I’m related to this guy

Look around you it’s not every day you find such a group of characters the the lot here. Knowledgeable, Intelligent, witty smartazz rouges. Frankly I’d bet Peg could tell you to “Go to Hell” in such a way if she was inclined to that you’d look forward to the journey. Fair winds Frederic

From a new member who trawled the forum before deciding to join I found your threads really interesting Frederic. The cylinders that went back and forth for honing and then on and off the bike to get the push rod tube seals right. I admire your patience and it looks like it all paid off, the bike looks and sounds wonderful!

Adieu but don’t rule out old triumph ownership in the future, you might be back.

Yes it's not a Farewell, it's a good bye ! I may not leave the Triumph Rat.Net .
I will leave the Classic Vintage and Veteran section though since I'm considering the purchase of a 2019 Street Triple R.
I need something new cause I was a bit tired of wrenching and tinkering on my Bonnie.
Anyway, it's been a real pleasure to exchange with you all on this forum and thank you for your kind comments.

I wish I could make a ride from home along the route des grandes Alpes starting from Thonon les Bains down to Nice.
This famous twisty mountain road, well known and appraised by bikers, is open to traffic in Summer only.
Alas I did not dare using my old Bonnie to perform this trip.
«Grandma» would have had her moods and would have left me stranded on the side of the road, well ahead before I could even reach the Alps.
Now with the Street triple I would be less worried with possible breakdown along the road.
Next summer I’ll be there if I am fit and physically OK.

Hi Fred, Good decision you made getting modern bike. Take that ride next year. You had your time with vintage Triumph. I get it! Time to move on has come. The worst thing is breaking down on the road with old bikes. At least with modern bike, there might be a Triumph dealership near by.

For sure, whatever bike we have, we must ride while we still can.... Time is certainly not on my side.

My Bonnie is in good hands and has been sold to a Triumph enthusiast.
He will for sure take good care of her.
He told me that he will namely address oil leaks by stripping down the engine and changing the gaskets.
He also intends to renovate the wiring harness and possibly the frame paint.
No doubt, this Bonnie will be an even better bike under his ownership.

I just tried to maintain her roadworthiness.
I happened to get an in-depth knowledege of my bike, especially thanks to your kind assistance and despite my limited wrenching capacities. Again, I thank you all for that.

Hopefully, with my new Street Triple I'll be more often riding and less wrenching in the garage.

Like Don said, "we must ride while we still can.... Time is certainly not on my side" (I'm aged 65, getting 66 by the end of this month).

If I could afford it, I would have kept my Bonnie and purchased a modern bike to get both bikes together.
I still love classic bikes because they are unique and testimonials of the golden age of motorcycling when I was young.
I love the way they were manufactured and their old-fashioned charm.
I know it's a bit of a cliché but this is the way I feel it.
I do not feel the same in front of a modern bike but I'm impressed by their performance, handling and reliability.
