I drove 6 hours yesterday to get it. The last 3 were in the snow with a trailer. I always thought they looked fun. I put 18 miles on last night in the yard and pasture. I chased a nice buck around for a while. This morning I went way down in the woods, turned around and looked up the hill a thought I would be dragging it back up like I did in 1979 with my 80cc. This thing dug through snow, leaves, and mud, crawled over down trees and knocked over small saplings. Amazing little bike. It is a 2003 with 312 miles!
You're going to love your TW200. I love mine. Everytime I ride it I remember why I fell in love with motorcycles in the first place. It's kind of like the Triumph Bonneville of dirt bikes. It's not fast. It's not the best handling bike out there either, but it does everything well enough and it does it all with such character and with such a high degree of fun that it's hard not to love it. It just doesn't go over 65mph... Unless you push it out of an airplane.
I've thought about getting a duel sport before. What would be a few good models to look for. I don't want to spend a lot and I would possibly be riding an hour on the road to get to some of the trails I've wanted to try and some trails would be near house.
I don't know where the notion that you NEED a large high HP bike to have fun came from. Your bike is exaclty the kind of machine I would want to ride int eh bush. I've tried the big 2 stroke MX'ers and their power bands make delicate riding IMPOSSIBLE.
You've got the right idea.
Just bought a good used DR 650 a few months ago and it's a hoot to ride. It will surprise you how quick it can run on a tight twisty road. The DR would eat my Speed Triple in those conditions. It's also cool to know you can pretty much ride down any road you find. It's added so much fun to riding. I have a whole new appreciation for riding in deep mud (I became very familiar with picking myself and the bike up) lol
