Should we wear blood type patches...

I just watched the "bending perception" vid and it got me thinking...
Should we be wearing blood type patches...In the military we had our dog tags to help medics identify blood types and allergies to meds...

I know its kinda morbid...but...when every second counts...should we wear blood type patches on our jackets...would civilian paramedics know what they were looking at?

It may attract vampires, but..

I like the way you think. Perhaps it would be better if we wore MedicAlert bracelets as some folks aren't ATGATT. I shudder to think what may happen if someone borrowed a jacket and crashed.
Potential liability issues, I suppose.
Heck, I even like the idea of dog tags. Imagine them with a factory logo and pertinent info embossed.
I believe the EMT's could relate to that pretty well.

Why not just have the RMV put it on your required licence or registration like a that of an organ donor. Probably some would argue that is too much information.??

It's my understanding that most medical facilities will run their own blood typing test before squirting new stuff into you. It's a very quick test these days and it covers their butts.

DON'T WORRY, BE HAPPY!

Good idea. I have been thinking about getting one of these.

Not sure if they are available in the US

I may be addicted to brake fluid, but I can stop at any time

I thought O negative was universal donor. You can't give rhesus positive blood to someone who's rhesus negative, right?

I won't stop riding because you tell me about someone who died in an accident, just as I won't stop eating because someone died of e.coli.

For several years I've been wearing a "dog tag" made at my local Army-Navy store, very inexpensive. I've got blood type, ICE and Dr contact infor, as well as critical meds info. I spoke with the local EMT guys before having it make to make sure it contained the infor they thought was most valuable. Even if the tag is not neeed it gives me a sense of comfort to carry that information.
