Why would someone do this the the throttle!?

My grip glue has given up completely, while striping to prep it for re glue, I spotted the throttle tube has had some butchering work done to it, but I cannot fathom why.. Heated grips in a previous life maybe, but usually that requires the whole length of the tube to be flat, not just the ends surely?

Any ideas, is this a mod I have failed to read about?

And, should I replace the tube with an un-bastardised version or just glue the grips back down?

It appears that someone did a rough job of taking off the ribs that goes around the tube at that point. It is to hold the grip in place on the tube but only works on the OEM grip that has the recesses to accommodate the ribs.

It's ok to use it as is - Just don't get any grip glue you use down in the openings where they ground through the tube.

I did the same ( but I don't have Paws for hands, so mine looks way prettier :Sheep )

If you don't do it there is a lot of non-triumph grips that won't fit or they will be deformed if you fit them without the notches removed.
