Carburettores & gas Sensors?

I am a bit baffled right now, really don't know what to make from this.

I have a 2008 Bonneville with twin carburettors. So.... Why da hell do I have gas sensors going into my pipes?

I am I missing something?

I am about to replace my exhausts, and the new ones have the hole for the sensors or a plug to cover the hole.
Shall I keep them shall I remove them?
I have a problem of throttle jerkiness that I have read its attenuated by removing the sensors can anyone confirm? And if so do I.. Just cut them off? XD

Thanks a Lot, help appreciated as the presence of this sensors is humbling me, as I really don't get it

I'm sure someone can give a more definitive answer than me. But I will throw this out there. You have an 08 and are in Europe? Right about the transition to EFI.
Do you have a fuel petcock for the gas tank? If yes you likely have carbs, if no, then you have a fuel injected model. The faux carbs on the EFI models look very much the same as carburetors.

No I dont have a Petcock :Help

Then it looks like you have a first year EFI model. The O2 sensors are providing input to the ECU. . And yes, you have an ECU, and can connect to it through the OBDII port that is likely under your seat. Check out the TTP site for lots of good info if you haven't already.

OMG this will make my mods so much easier, how was I oblivious to this... so the entire carb is fake?

It contains the fuel injectors and I believe is referred to as a throttle body. I used the "faux carb" term because it uses the carburetor form factor to hide the EFI components but maintains the more classic look of carbs.

CVK on Carbs, CTK on Injected Bikes.

I spotted the FI setup from your image...the little 3mm vacuum lines running off the top side of the intake manifolds....running up to the MAP sensors.
I know the fake bodies fool other riders/passers-by, but haven't heard them fool an owner until now!
Don't be disheartened....the fakes are actually made by the real carb company, and just hollowed out for the FI's.

XD Just got the bike, and according to most literature 2008s where still Carb bikes ( the last ones )

But when I started poking around things were not adding up carbs and sensors didnt make sense.
Well after all I am glad its an Injection model.

Its sad that Tune ECU cut support for further ECU Maps, having trouble to find an Arrow map that disconnects the O2 Sensors

I am doing your mods from TTP, but pains me a bit to pay £99 for your map

what other mods have you got? there is a map for aftermarket pipes, pods, No SAI, No O2 sensors on Tune ECU

Thank you guys, having feedback on his maps is priceless I might just order it when my new pipes arrive, assuming that their map made to "short free flowing exhausts" is adequate for the Tec 2-2 Short "sprint" pipes

Maybe. The TEC site recommends the Arrow tune for both the Clubman and Sprint, which would be closer to "long free flowing" for the TTP tunes. Probably worth calling Mike to check.

Good luck!

Just Spoke with him, Awesome-Lad, he recommended the Map for the short free flowing exhausts from Tec as he had customers in the past using it with great results.

Thanks, everyone
