CEL question

I was installing new exhaust, forgot to plug O2 sensor in before start up and now I have the CEL. How can I clear it since I have plugged it back in. I have disconnected the battery, but still on.

Thanks

It will clear in a fixed number of drive and heat cycles. Can't recall how many, possibly three. You can search for that and/or Dr. F. may be along with your answer. Alternately, you'd need the dealer tool or Tune-ECU or similar to clear that code manually. Which bike BTW?

If it's an air-cooled EFi Bonneville, it's not in any sort of limp mode, so feel free to ride it.

The CEL will clear after 3 complete and consecutive warm up/cool down cycles, provided that the fault has been removed. In other words, it will clear after your first 3 journeys of a few miles, providing that you get the engine to normal working temperature and let it cool completely between trips.

The fault code causing the CEL will remain in the ECU memory, even though the CEL is not lit up, for 40 warm/cool cycles. It is then automatically erased.
