Matris FT105SE or FSE fork kit

Hello all
I am after some feedback from those that have fitted the Matris fork kit from Carpimoto or similar supplier to a Bonneville. The part number of this kit is FT105SE. On the Matris web site they call it a FSE kit. Please see links for clarification

http://www.carpimoto.it/en-AU/Bike_T...Bonneville.htm
http://www.matrisdampers.com/catalog/category/16.html

Carpimoto call it a cartridge kit but it appears to consist of fork spring pre load adjusters, spacers, fork springs and a shim styled device a bit like an emulator that fits in the top of the damper rod and blocks the rebound holes. If my assumptions are incorrect please correct me.

Matris also appear to make a cartridge that is a cartridge but this is a much more expensive option and not the subject of this post. Matris also appear to have a cheaper kit called the FKE that just restrict the damper rods and use a lighter oil. Again not the subject of this post.

My questions are:
Were you happy with the handling improvements from this product?
If I am not happy with the ride is it possible to change shims to achieve a better ride?

This kit appears to provide drop in installation that does not require any modification to the forks. It also appears to control rebound damping which the Racetec emulators don’t.

As it comes with the springs it is not much more expensive than buying a pair of emulators and a pair of springs and some preload adjusters.

Thanks for any clarification or feedback you can provide.

Steve

Pardon me for dusting off this old thread, but I was just updating the Matris section of my site and came across this thread.

There are three (3) fork upgrade kits available for the standard chassis 800 & 900 twins (read: not America or Speedmaster) priced -roughly- at $220/$420/$600.

The Matris FKE kit is their entry level upgrade consisting of a set of linear rate fork springs, a set of pre-load adjustable fork caps, aluminum (application specific) spacers and a set of 'calibrated flow regulators.' The latter being a set of aluminum furrels or 'flutes' as I call them that regulate the flow of oil, in this case lighter than stock oil. Poor-man's emulators if you prefer.

The next level up is their FSE kit which gives you the same components of the FKE kit, however the 'flutes' are replaced with full-on emulators. Same springs, pre-load caps & spacers.

Matris' top-of-the-line upgrade is their F15K cartridge conversion kit which has been reviewed on these pages.

The Matris catalog shows a plethora of shims, tools and spares for you uber-tweekers.

So there you have it. Good, better, best. Or more like best, best'er and best'est, as dollar-per-dollar, I can't think of a better suspension upgrades.
