Hello, does anyone have a baffle for the Arrow 2.1 exhaust for a 2014 Scrambler that they don’t want and would sell for cheap. I might not use it but would like to see how it sounds with baffle fitted. Postage to Scotland. If you do, let me know. Cheers

There are various sources for genuine Arrow baffles but the cheapest new would be the ones that TEC Bike parts sell for their Arrow replicas, they're identical and will fit. You can see two of them in this page:

£14.00 for the 6-hole one: https://www.tecbikeparts.com/product/spare-stainless-short-type-6-hole-exhaust-baffle/

Same for the 10-hole one: https://www.tecbikeparts.com/product/spare-stainless-long-type-10-hole-exhaust-baffle/

The standard genuine Arrow 2-into-1 would come with the 10-hole one. If you know the previous owner of the bike he might have the one that came with the exhaust knocking about and give it to you.

Just for clarification on the fitment - I've just bought the shorter 6 holed TEC baffle as I fancied trying it out. They do fit in but it's a loose fit at best, they would rattle about like anything. Some work needed to get it firmed up............

The problem with the Arrow exhaust and baffle is that without it in it’s just that little bit too loud and with it in its way too quiet. I experimented and I know others who did too by drilling more holes, opening the internal end, shortening it and even drilling holes in the plate around the outlet. None of it worked. Beware especially of shortening it, even progressively, as you’ll get to a point where it actually starts to whistle without any improvement in sound. What it actually needs is a bigger opening, so drilling holes in the end plate gives the best (although still not great) outcome but looks odd.
My tip; put up with the noise, which is beautiful, just a little loud.

Ok, so have bought the TEC baffle and it fits but is just a little short and rattles bady which is annoying as I really prefer the exhaust sound with it in. So, how do I stop the rattle? Can I get a washer or similar in that size, I’m sure there must be a solution but any advice appreciated as it’s not something I’ve fiddled about with before.
Thanks in advance

In my short test I found the TEC to be circular of 2mm shorter than the Arrow baffle at the rear fitment point, it was also slightly smaller diameter so as you say rattled around a lot. I did wedge it in just to test it out and found the sound to be no different to other mods of the stock Arrow baffle I've done and too quiet for my tastes.

I did look into trying to purchase a washer to wedge in and decided that would be best from the front end of the baffle although the issues here are the exact thickness needed and also the internal diameter size as the weld varies.......... Another option would be to wedge it in using exhaust wrap but you may never get it out again........

Anyway, these are the sort of washers I was looking at buying:

At the end of the day it's going to be trial and error to see what works best for your individual baffle, I wedged mine in using some cut out foam/rubber stuff I had hanging around but it gets far too hot in there for anything like that to work other than just to test it out for sound.........

I hope this helps you out...........

Thanks for that, I was actually wondering if a 2mm thick cork disc cut to fit would be enough to pad out the gap and act as a spacer , just not sure if cork would be hear resistant enough in the exhaust, hmmm! There’s also round ring rubber washers etc, as you say, it may be trial and error. Thanks for your help though

Your thinking is the same as mine was - I used (I believe) a heat resistant rubber type material and that worked great for taking up the slack in the baffle and it was firmly in place; but I felt there was no way it was going to stand up even over the short term. That internal part of the silencer got really hot very quickly I was surprised when I did my short sound test, the baffle was too hot to touch when I removed it. This was part of the reason I gave up on any ideas of trying to do any mods to get more volume out of the TEC baffle.

My first plan would be to try the M26 washer and making that fit the baffle by filing it down internally to fit snugly around the weld. By testing the baffle fitment as you go you should be able to get it down to a good tight fit - I'd then used J-B Weld to secure the washer in place and fit it in the silencer while it's curing. The problem with all this is that it's a lot of time and you're spending more money on something that may not work in the end, good money after bad springs to mind..........

The original Arrow baffle is an interference fit around the diameter and an exact fit to the grove of the holding circlip, this is why they are often difficult to remove if they have been in place for a while.

struggling with the TEC baffle, just can’t get it to stop rattling
I know it's too late for you but I had the same problem on a Dunstall 2-1, which I think is a rebranded TEC, unless I have the wrong end of the stick. Mine rattled at idle. Tried a few things, including exhaust goo, and then made a circumferential sleeve out of a strip of beer can. Worked a treat. I was originally trying to pack the baffle against the circlip, until the lightbulb went on.

ok, so just to update in case it assists anyone else, I bit the bullet, paid £50 and got the Arrow baffle for the 2.1 exhaust- it appears to have fitted snugly straight out of the packaging, I haven’t actually ridden the bike as I garage it during winter but started it up and there is no rattling and , for me, I like the quieter noise.
I also bought the TEC paddock stand bobbin kit but haven’t fitted it yet.
I assume that replacing the baffle doesn’t require me to do anything else with regards the bikes performance? I suppose I won’t know until I ride it but just wondered .
So, wondering what to buy next? Replacement mirrors? Hmmm!
Thanks for all the replies to my posts and assistance. Cheers. G

If you still have the original mirrors I’d say that is something worth replacing. I went with early Speed Triple mirrors on mine. Picked them up second hand for $30. Pre-2015 Tiger 800 work well too; they’re the same mirror part as the S3 but have slightly longer stems. Great visibility and a vast improvement over the OEM “antennae”. Plenty of after-market bar-end options around too.

Back in my Uni days a mate had a Suzuki GT750 'Water Bottle', that he used to race on weekends. He was obsessed with expansion chambers and designed/made his own. (I had one ride on it and gave it straight back, it was vicious). Anyway, he had street mufflers that he would slide over the stingers. These were made from (back then) steel Fosters cans. It was just the funniest thing, but then he has a pretty different unit.
