Steve McQueen and Triumphs on ITV

ITV in the United Kingdom is currently airing a great 2 part series with host Henry Cole, about Steve McQueen, his motorcycle friends, and the history behind some of his great bikes, including the Triumph-powered Metisse, his TR6, and a bevy of other bikes. The episodes are available on ITV's UK website:

The two part series features some never-seen footage of McQueen and Bud Ekins and their mates Cliff Coleman and Dave Ekins competing in the 1964 ISDT, and it has family-provided footage of his Rickman Metisse, plus the insider perspective on how both Ekins and McQueen were able to pull off the iconic motorcycle scenes in The Great Escape.

It's one of the better documentaries, and it gives proper credit to Bud and Dave Ekins as a key influence on McQueen's motorcycle obsession. Lots of inside stories from the people who were with McQueen during this time, including Dave Ekins, Cliff Coleman, Bobby Foxworthy, Bud (from older interviews), and his son Chad, as well as many of his vintage bikes.

Hope you enjoy - and for those outside UK, we are pushing the producers to get this documentary released in the US and abroad.

Both episodes are on YouTube. Search,'Steve Mcqueen, Motorcycle Movie Star'. The quality is just OK and the film image looks to be reversed (writing is backwards). Still good though!
