Heading out the door now...Reno to Sonoma for AHRMA road races tomorrow, then down the coast via the Golden Gate bridge, Hwy 1 south detouring up 92 at Half Moon Bay to grab some food and enjoy the scenery at Alice's Restaurant. From there south towards Santa Cruz and then a blast back across the valley to Mariposa and overnight ing there. Next day will be playing around near the entrance of Yosemite and rolling through the big trees to Lodi, where I'll enjoy a night of short track racing. Up the next morning and home to Reno!

Should be right around 1000 miles of Scramblin' :D

I'll TRY to take a couple pictures

See ya!

Loaded up and ready to go. Finally installed my Dart flyscreen.

After finally getting out of the house after 7pm I rolled over Donner Pass and got a room for the night. A whopping 103 miles but I'm with bike and it's not home. ;)

Just over 5000 miles on my Trailwings and the rear is getting quite thin. Tomorrow morning will be breakfast and then getting some new rubber mounted before heading to the track.

Kind of funny...I got a room last night in your typical chain motel and it was a mess. The sweet little girl at the front desk apologized and brought me keys for a ground floor room which was the last non smoking room they had. Also happened to be the Honeymoon suite complete with red curtains, pillows, throw rugs, fake flowers, even the ultra romantic red microwave. Cute.

SO ... After leaving Auburn, CA I headed north on Hwy 49 to Yuba City, then west on 20 to Clear Lake. Just a few miles out of Yuba City I saw a sign for a covered bridge just 8 miles off route. What self respecting motorcyclist can NOT go for that? Headed up Pleasant Valley Road which turned out to be ridiculously fun but requires a lot of attention. Very narrow, endless 15mph corners, and undulations which one could have both wheels in the air if you so desired! As promised 8 miles in is the Bridgeport Covered Bridge, commissioned in 1862.

How great is this a Scrambler on a bridge with another in the background!

The ride west was great once out of the valley. 20, 53, and 29 are new numbers I love, roads with so much character and beauty. I've ridden just under 300 miles today many of which were with tilted horizon and blasts of throttle connecting the dots.

As I sit in Starbucks I've changed my plans as mentioned a couple posts earlier (I don't plan anyhow so no big surprise). I'm going to head south over the Golden Gate Bridge tonight and hang my hat (or helmet as it may) somewhere around Half Moon Bay. Then in the morning, my birthday morning, I will ride up in the hills and enjoy my first motorcycle ride to Alice's Restaurant for breakfast. Happy birthday to me!

Thr trusty Scrambler waiting faithfully outside as I strike pen to paper and update the faithful. :D

Do I have a timer on my iPhone? :)

I'm rocking the Firstgear Kilimanjaro jacket and HT pants. With liners removed and vents open fairly comfy in the near 90 degree temps yesterday (as long as I'm moving). Liners in warm and waterproof. Alpinestar S-MX boots, and an HJC Sy-Max2 helmet. Fieldsheer vented gauntlet gloves when it's warm, and a pair of short HMK snowmobile gloves when the temps cool down. Also have a pair of polypropylene glove liners if it gets real chilly.

Happy Birthday Paul.
Great photo. I ran that stretch again a few weeks ago. Surreal views and insane corner carving. I've found a handful of stealth camp spots along the hwy 1 now which never cease to amaze, and there are a bunch of great pay/forest service/state park type camp grounds as well. A road that should be on every moto-head's must ride list, Hwy 36 from Fortuna, CA to Red Bluff, CA. 2,200 + corners in 140 miles.
I digress..... Wish I was rolling with you, man! Enjoy and thanks for the updates.
