Barn Find America

Triumphs have never been on my radar. I've ridden bikes for 35 years but never a Triumph.

Literally 5 minutes from my house I came across a 2002 America with 905 miles. It had been in its resting place for the last 15 years, just sitting.

I am currently waiting on a few parts but the bike is coming along nicely. Before I started, I did put a squirt of gas into the vacuum ports to make sure it did fire, and of course it did.

Carbs are out and apart. They aren't as bad as they could have been but none the less are all gummed up.

Flushed the brake system, front and rear. The fluid was no where near as bad as I anticipated. I was expecting grime and crust but nothing....I guess that is one of the benefits of DOT 4 fluid.

They’re great bikes, it will be a nice find when you’re done with it. My Speedmaster is one of the best bikes I’ve owned

Nice! Looks great considering it sat that long. It’ll be great once you get it going.

I've got one I found like that. It had only been sitting about "3-4 years" according to the owner. He had just lost interest. Ran like crap when I got it, but it didn't take much to make it healthy again. The old carburetted Hinckley units are as reliable as a hammer. The newer EFI ones I hear more complaints about. Had mine for about 7 years now. ...J.D.

Amazing! Great looking bike. You’ve got the one year that had “Bonneville America” on the side panel. Enjoy!

Being as the factory burned down destroying most of thier inventory early in the year, it was probably actually built in 2001 for the '02 model year. It also has the Auxiliary Passing lights, and heel/toe shift, which are expensive options. I had to find a these for mine. Took some looking as they are becoming obsolete. Mine is even the same color. ...J.D.

Got the bike up and running today, runs real good. I had promised myself I would not ride on the 17 year old tires but did take it down the road but only made it a 1/4 mile. The tires are flat spotted and what a bounce....lol

Any tire recommendations?
