In the UK, Triumph are very keen on test rides. Any dealer not offering test rides would not be a dealer for very long.
As for demo bikes, a dealer is allowed a number of bikes (6 I think) as demo bikes at a significant discount above normal. The dealer can only sell them after a minimum time and mileage at which point they are able to reorder a replacement demo bike.
You can get the situation whereby a dealer is almost pleading with you to try a particular bike that has not been in demand as a demo just to get the miles up so he can sell it.
Hopefully I am able to get a test ride by the end of this month. Apparently it takes another 2 weeks to get the bike delivered to the dealer once you've sealed the deal. I can't say I'm thrilled about that either...
