As per earlier an earlier thread, I have tried the Dart fly screen and Marlin and as they are useless for me, has anybody any recommendation as to an efficient touring screen ? I do not particularly fancy the Triumph touring screen and would prefer a screen with an adjustable top vent. I have been looking at the Givi screen on the internet but there must be others. I appreciate that the height of a rider is irrelevant as it is the height from bum to head that counts. The problem is that one has to ' buy to try ' and it can get somewhat expensive.

The Madstad is far and away the most functional. It is adjustable so you can tune out any buffeting. I've had one on my last three Triumphs and could cruise comfortable at high speed for hours, with my helmet face shield up and listening to music. You get to your destination far more relaxed. Only issue is some people (not me) find it ugly though that would likely apply to any serving what you're after.

I have National Cycle's Plexifairing GT. I like the screen, it's stable and flairs out to cover the hands which I appreciate . . . I did 100 highway miles in low 50 degree temperatures and light mist / rain without complaint last weekend . . . but the installation is a hassle and to get it positioned perfectly I had to replace the mirrors and front signals (though I ran it for a few hundred miles with the stock mirrors / signals without issue). For reference I am 6'1" and the top half of my head, but it is relatively clean air and I can duck behind the shield if I feel the need.

I also have the Dart Fly and its useless on the highway on a standard position bike. I'm 5'8" and am considering two MRA options:

The Roadshield that is 12.5" high and 15" wide in smoke:

The Vario Screen that is 19" high and 17" wide in clear - its a split screen design to reduce pressure from behind and is also adjustable in height:

Decisions, decisions. A bit pricey as you have to buy mounting hardware separate but this brand so far looks to have higher end quality than others I've researched.

I started with the Triumph Touring Windshield and upgraded to a larger Clearview screen. I don't think the Triumph windshield is worth the money they're asking for it but I bought mine used from a forum member. The Clearview screen uses the Triumph brackets and grommets so it really doesn't make economic sense unless you can find the Triumph shield at a good price. I like both screens for riding in cold weather. They both cut the wind blast on my chest. The Clearview screen offers more wind protection up and to the sides. The downside is that both screens are loud at anything over 40 mph. I wear earplugs on longer rides so I can accept that trade off. The bummer for me is the upper brackets stick out like antennae when you remove either screen for warm weather riding.:frown2:

Do you have a T120? If so, when did you get the Clearview screen? I ordered one over a month ago for the T120 but they were having fitment issues and it still hasn’t shipped. It’s not yet on their web site. I prefer this screen because it mounts on the stock brackets for the T120 touring screen-and doesn’t involve the handlebars.

Further to my previous comments regarding the Dart fly screens, after due consideration I have the taken the plunge and fitted a MRA Variflo screen to my T120 . I am pleased with the quality and it is a significant improvement compared to my previous exploits. I still need to play about with the settings to get the best performance but it is early days yet. I did consider a Madstat screen but here in the UK they are three times the price of the MRA screen.
With the MRA Variflo screen I am not expecting to ride in a wind free bubble and unless I fit a screen the size of a spinnaker !

Has anyone tried the Deflector Screen from National Cycle? My selection was motivated by the fact the Deflector screen has a quick release mechanism and I mostly ride without a screen (especially in nice weather and in urban settings) and I like the ability to switch back and forth in ten seconds. When I do use it, I am completely happy with it. No buffeting in weird places or at weird speeds. I sense a lot of frustration out there and I wonder how I could be so lucky to have this be a big non-event for me.
