PVL coils Trophy 900 Tacho issue

After several months of an intermittent miss at 2 - 3000 revs and a couple of carb strip downs, I have just fitted a set of the PVL coils to a 2001 - 900 Trophy - the difference in performance is far better than expected, with much improved tick over and pulling through the rev range - which suggests that the old coils were well beyond their sell by date -

The rev counter now seems intermittent at start up and for the first 5 miles until the engine warms through and then settles down as normal - has anyone experienced this and is there a fix ?

The only difference I can find is that the resistance of the Gill coils were 10k Primary to secondary and the PVL's are 8.35k - the primary coil resistance is 0.6 ohm as per the Gills
