many of us including myself lift it on the oil sump. We use a piece of 1" wood cut to about 6x14" if i recall. Lay it across the jack and position it right under the sump being sure it's not going to hit anything else. Do a search for a thread my mustangman66 using the keyword lift or jack etc. He has pics and the correct size for the wood.
not sure what tire to get, but i just put another metzeler on and within a few hundred miles got a nail. i wasn't about to chuck the tire, and lots of people plug them with no issue. I plugged it with a "monkey grip" plug kit and it's solid as a rock. I've done well over 100MPH since then and have no worries the tire won't last the full 7-8k miles w\o safety issues. As long as the hole isn't really big to where you feel it may have seriously damaged the belts i see no reaon not to plug them. But it's your call.
