both my wife and i have had repeated events of her 2016 street twin cutting out while riding. I have experienced it during deceleration but my wife has experienced it while cruising in 3rd gear.
Does anyone else have this problem or has anyone experienced this with their bike.
Not a normal or widely reported problem. If you want to check anything before taking it to a dealer I suggest the two most vulnerable switches would be the magnetic prop stand switch ( the one activated by the magnet in the prop stand which would fall out on early machines ) and the engine cut out/start switch which could suffer from water ingress.
A couple of my chums had this prob on their bonnies, they thought it was the fuel cap. They did load up the seat with heavy luggage when off on rallies so could well have been the igniter unit issue that Forchetto suggested in this link. Others have had similar on bonnies, dunno if it would apply to the street twin the same but worth a check:
Ever find a solution? I had a similar issue a few weeks back...my Street Twin died three times in a two-day span as I was coasting to a red light, clutch disengaged. Hasn't happened since, though.
I had this happen to me the other day. I have 380 miles on my bike and this was the first time I did any spirited riding. I was coasting about 60ish-70ishhhhh for about 2-3 miles, was approaching an exit and towards a red light when all of a sudden bike died. I had the clutch pulled in, and disengaged while coasting. When I got to the red light I restarted the bike and it wanted to die so I kept the throttle up for a seconds and then problem went away. Continued on my journey to a hardware store, parked went inside 15-20 minutes and when I got back on the bike it would not idle on start up, had to again keep it revved up for a few seconds then problem disappeared. Next morning went into garage started right up just fine and idled smooth, but I did not ride.
Have not been on the bike since this incident, not because of the cut outs on that ride, just coincidentally.
I thought it was just bad fuel. I pumped premium Exxon-Mobil in a well known location. However now it appears to be a systematic problem based on others experiencing the same thing.

I'm sorry, I don't wish to sound patronising, but that's not really a sensible way to ride for all sorts of reasons...
Apart from it being a bad practice, on normal deceleration the ECU does its DFCO (deceleration fuel cut off) to save emissions and fuel, the sensors in the system can easily get confused and even record a fault if they detect what they call a "A rationality failure". The system is not expecting the bike to be doing 60-70mph with the throttle closed and just the idle revs so it could get confused and do strange things.
Did you ever get it sorted? I just bought a 2016 street twin today with 13000 miles on it... never started it or anything from delivery as I first wanted to change the tail tidy and bar end mirrors... first it wouldn't start properly and then second also started dying coming to a slow stop at red lights/roundabouts in 1st gear
