Help, I launched my kickstand spring...

So as I heroically tried to ride my bike up a 4" step, I smacked the kickstand spring and it fell off. I can't find where it hooks to on the frame! Hopefully it wasn't something that snapped of during the incident. Can someone take a picture of their kickstand and hook and idiot up?

Thanks very much!

These are street bikes. I say just watch your ground clearances. Anything that'll impact your bike's oil pan can surely also take out the kick stand spring, its retainer, and the shoulder bolt. On my T120, these items hang down lower than just about any other part of the bike.

Thruxton R here but I am guessing it is the same setup. I do have the sump guard and it does not cover this area but it provides a first contact protection since it sits lower than the T2082014 part. So you would hit the sump guard plate first... unless you are so lucky that whatever you hit only impacts that bolt/retainer...

Nice pictures, and good answers, thanks: the answer I was hoping for, indeed.

I am not so worried that the sump guard would cover the bit itself --after all at least it has to allow the freedom of the spring, but it being apparently a tad lower that the bit certainly helps much.

With the roads we have here, I shall certainly put a sump plate on. Happy to see that might well help for the spring retainer too: did you notice how it sticks out about right in the middle between front and rear wheel? That makes it pretty exposed.

Take care

Thanks
