Thats Titanium for ya, that's normal and it looks very cool when you see it up close....
From what I can gather they do them in S/S too...
I sent them a message a few hous ago but I didn't hear back yet..

Oh, and those silencers in the video are the E-marked ones, they are nearly as quiet as the stock silencers...So the cat delete pipes make a big difference....I think they will be pretty loud with the V&H removable baffle set up.

Thanks for the post!

It makes me wonder though...

How is it that some guy in Thailand can produce a system like this from his basement, after work.

... And all the "big" companies, who's sole existence is based upon producing performance motorcycle exhaust, with all the fancy electronic & specialty equipment, still have yet to produce anything for a motorcycle that is not only new, but one I can't recall this much excitement & hype & Internet buzz about, in my 17+ plus years of riding & being a heavy enthusiast... Oh well.

All well and good but what do we do about a tune to accommodate these?

Well up to now all we got it the Dynojet Power Commander that was announced this week....And we can be hopeful that Triumph release a set of decat headers with a tune to suit them.....
Either way some patience is yhe order of the day, this will all come together eventually...

Yep, got the same message $530, waiting to hear about shipping, they cant do that until Monday. I asked about stainless steel also but it seems they are only doing them in titanium...
They also do mufflers as well but no price on those yet..
Firts pic is titanium mufflers and headers and second pipc is titanium headers ($530) and stock Thruxton mufflers...

I'll get over to the machine shop near me this week and get a price on stainless...

So if i use the existing headers and let the "cut them" i would keep dual headers, run down to where Cat is now, then there will be the cross over and 2-1 entry point to a 2 1/4" pipe to muffler. The exhaust pipe would be wrapped in black (have a white Thrux so goin all storm trooper on it) then ceramic coated reverse cone muffler in black.
They quoted $600 all said and done. Not sure what I'm going to do, but will ponder it over the summer and fall then do it this winter.
We'll see.

I went over to the place on the other side of Manchester (UK) I was talking about in an earlier post and talked with them about the headers.
I'm taking the bike over there and leaving it for a couple of days on the 5th of Sept. They are gonna make me a header pipe from the cylinder heads straight to the mufflers on each side (2-2) out of stainless with a brushed finish.....
I also talked to them about maybe having a few sets made up, lets see how mine work out first and maybe if there is demand we can set up a group buy.....

I'm surprised that someone hasn't at least made a simple plug w/nice black metal plate, as a cover for the left side exit-hole of the CAT... (For a 2-into-1 to slim down the look/lower weight.)

Then people could just buy that for, say, $300(USD) or less... Then customers could keep their stock headers (or get the black ones), and then have the freedom to buy whatever slip-on system they wanted. (I'm not racing for pink-slips from traffic light to traffic light. And this way, I don't have to worry about Triumph probably never coming out with that 'race kit' and the de-cat tune.)

I sort of just thought of all this now, while read what @Usaftrevor87 just posted. And maybe I should have typed this in the '2016 Thrux Rolling Exhaust' thread. (Maybe I'll copy & paste it there eventually.) I may be in the minority, but I sure would be in the market for something quick, easy, and ECU tune & warranty friendly like that! Especially after I installed the purely decorative black belly skid pate, that conceals that dumb CAT anyway.

Cheers.

You aint gonna loose much weight that way and your also still left with the restrictions to the flow that the cat makes. You certainly wont be getting any performance there either, if anything, you are actually going to make it more restrictive as all the gasses would then have to flow from one outlet from the cat and be restricted even more in one small pipe from the cat to the remaining muffler.
If you put your fingers at the back of the pipe from the cat to the muffler (either side) you will see that it is not a full round ppipe from the cat to the muffler...
A 2-1 has to go to an unrestricted collector to work. And the collector outlet has to be large enough to let the gasses flow freely...

Damn! Wish I'd read this thread a month ago - just spent three days in Bangkok and would likely have bought a set of those headers and looked at mufflers too.

Anyone got an address for this outfit? I go to Thailand quite often and can easily bring a set back.
I see they have a Facebook page but I quit my account.

I'm still waiting to see what else comes out in exhausts for these before I commit and while there's quite a few muffler choices, nobody really seems to be offering aftermarket headers apart from these Thai's.

The bike really seems to need opening-up a tad and I'm quietly reading all the threads and learning what I can from them. I would happily go to titanium or even polished stainless on my T120 Black and don't want to race but feel the bike would be nice with a few more horses and a bit more noise.

Might be a dumb question, but would the Thruxton exhaust system fit the T120 HT without extensive modding? I'm expecting the frames and mounting points are pretty much the same but would like to be sure before buying.

baster i contacted triumph uk and asked that question before i bought my t120
they told me no, the mounting points are different,i think they missed the boat by not
offering a exhaust like the thrux or street twin for these bikes especially when their working with
v/h the work meerkat exhausts in queensland are doing look nice on the thrux, but he informs me
he has not been able to get his hands on a T120 to view and measure etc couple of the oz boys have posted
about the meerkat and cross pipe on a thruxton R
update/meerkat exhaust has been contacted by T120 owner in Queensland
for view and measurements lets see what he comes out with

G'day Gregoz,
Thanks for the info. That will at least stop me barking up the wrong tree with all guns blazing, like a bat out of hell.
It does seem to be a missed opportunity for Triumph in not offering alternative headers and mufflers for the T120 Bonnie. The Vance and Hines replacement mufflers just don't seem worth the extra dough for so little change.

I'm just going to watch this and other posts to see what the chaps establish as a good system with real gains , and then make a decision. Even though I have the T120 Black it would be nice to have access to chrome or titanium headers and some upswept mufflers with less restriction , and the cat-delete option.

Hi SSK Dave,
I expect that's the chap in Bangers making the titanium gear? Why any business would rely on Facebook is a mystery to me. I will just wait until someone deals with him and posts results as I have no intention of resurrecting my Facebook account just for this.
Isn't it odd the way Thais use quite a lot of conspicuous English in advertising and elsewhere but when you get into the text further it is almost all written in Thai with the odd English word leaping out?
Did you get to the Pattaya bike show and was it any good . It was actually on when I landed in Phuket so I had no show of making it there.

BASTER
i rang peter at Meerkat today re exhausts and cat delete,he was very helpful
and engaging,he informed me he sells alot of his cat deletes to the usa, europe, and australia
i have emailed him a number of times, and he always responds promptly, with answers to any questions.
( any questions about exhausts or cat delete check his web site out and send him an email meerkatmufflers .com.au)

Ebay takes a sizeable chunk from each sale, so I'd assume he would much prefer to sell directly.
I think he's away on holiday at the moment, but he usually creates and ships each one pretty much immediately, which is why, as with the mufflers, you can ask for any modification you like.

T120 xpipe

Gday gang, Just posted on club cafe regarding Meerkat Mufflers. Went up to see Pete on the 120 for him to have a squiz at it, could not get him off it. Anyway got an x pipe that I will fit this week as we are supposed to be getting between 200 and 400 mills of rain from the remains of Queensland cyclone Thursday/Friday. Had a good chat to Peter and we came up with some ideas that him being the professional that he is will make something of beauty and sound like a Bonnie should. Just gonna take a little time as he is off on a holiday. Will keep yous posted.

Cheers

Meerkat crossover going on my ST this weekend if all goes to plan. Hardest part is going to be having the patience required to not blip the throttle during the post install ECU relearn process.

Speaking of which, everyone is following the ECU relearn procedure after they do these cat deletes, right? Here is my understanding of the process as per a previous thread for Air Cooled EFI bikes started by @Forchetto:

  • Install your parts, triple check all your work
  • Reconnect the battery (you did disconnect it first for safety before doing major wrenching, right?)
  • Start the bike, do not touch the throttle, at all
  • Allow the bike to warm up to the point that the fan comes on (full operating temp reached) - still no throttle
  • Allow 12 more minutes of idling, and absolutely do not touch the throttle for the entire process
  • Shut the bike off, ECU relearn has completed and been written to memory

Just checked the latest models service manual and the adaption procedure is indeed the same as on the previous bikes, as you say. Here's the gist of it:

Forcing Adaption to Take Place

If the read out indicates that the motorcycle is not adapted, the following will force the system to make adaptions:

WARNING
Never start the engine or let it run for any length of time in a closed area. The exhaust fumes are poisonous and may cause loss of consciousness and death within a short time. Always operate the motorcycle in the open-air or in an area with adequate ventilation.

Note:
Resetting adaptions with the motorcycle connected to an exhaust extraction system may cause incorrect values to be set, causing poor engine running. Always reset the adaptions with the engine disconnected from any exhaust extraction system whilst ensuring the motorcycle is positioned in a well ventilated area.

1.- Ensure the engine is cold.

2.- WITHOUT TOUCHING THE THROTTLE, start the engine and allow it to warm up until the cooling fan comes on.

3.- Leave the engine to idle for a further 12 minutes.

Note
As an alternative to the above process, connect the diagnostic tool, select ADJUST TUNE (see the Triumph Diagnostic Tool User Guide) and select RESET ADAPTIONS. This will force a fast adaption routine to take place in around five seconds. For this to happen, the engine MUST be running, it must be at normal operating temperature and in closed loop control mode. Under any other conditions fast adaption will not take place and may cause default values to be loaded, which may then require a normal 12 minute adaption routine to be run.
