Today, as I was taking a break halfway through a ride, I noticed a dent in the left side exhaust pipe on my Thruxton R:
I presume it's a deliberate indentation in the pipe against which the kickstand rests when it's up. But it seems like a really clumsy bit of design - almost as if someone just hammered the pipe. Is every new Thruxton like this or have I got a slightly defective pipe?
my side stand rubber bump for my STwin fell off when i touch it , so I cleaned the place it was fitted to and fitted a rubber bump foot for electronic cases.

Exactly the same dent on my Thruxton Standard - just got it today an noticed the dent, googled it and here I am. What was odd about it had it been a dent was that there was no obvious sign of impact, or cracking to the chrome - but I agree a clumsy piece of engineering.........
The indent was put there by Triumph to slow the exhaust gases in the LHS header, retain more heat and cause more discolouration on that side.
Seriously, if the side stand was 10mm lower when retracted would it have made that much difference?
