I have read a view comments on the Triumph OEM fender Eliminator kit, but can't find them now.
I have booked my R in for the kit and indicators with the local dealer, and had a look at the kit today.
My question is that the eliminator is made up of 3 main pieces which when bolted together make a pretty long bit of metal. On the Triumph website it also looks huge. I have seen some pictures with it fitted that look a lot better (smaller). Has this been done by leaving off the middle strut or is it that long because a lot of it sits under the seat cowl?
You need to not fit one section (the middle bit) of the kit. I needed to cut a small recess in the bottom bit, so that it fitted the notch in the top bit but it was easy enough to do. I'm wondering whether this is a "safety feature" Triumph have to do but make it easy enough to work around.
Thanks Lostlogik, that is what I hoped, I saw the little recess needed when I looked at the kit, hopefully the dealer has a grinder. I would do it myself but got the fitting free when buying the bike and I am rubbish at wiring looms.
Hope you have a more compliant dealer than me then. I too had free fitting, and they fitted the whole lot, saying it was needed to be "legal". How why or where this legality issue arises, I don't know, but it was easy enough to get round. There are only two wires and they have bullet connectors already fitted. It's just a case of unplugging and reinserting (which makes me wonder about the legality issue).
The only extra bit of work was the aforementioned grinding of the small recess, a dab of paint and a bit of old inner tube to hide the now exposed wiring, as the shortened plate doesn't provide the same covering of the looms.
Cheers again Lostlogik. The parts guy at Webbs said they could do it OK, not spoke to the service guys though. Not sure why it would not be legal as long as the plate can be seen and is lit. Here is a Jack Lilly bike with the Cafe racer kit which shows a shorter FEK which uses the same part. At least I think this is shortened, it certainly looks shorter than the one on the Triumph website.
I was looking at getting the Motortrio FEK with some K&S signals using the Mototrio brackets to mount them. Can't figure out how to order from US as the web site doesn't work?
Are there any other options? Also, not sure how the front signals will work with the faring.

@Wilco10 ... You're welcome... If you have any questions when you're installing it (whenever it comes in), just ask! Everyone is pretty helpful on here when it comes to bolt-on stuff like that. Cheers.
A couple of questions, Are the lights inside red as the cover appears to be clear? And does it light the number plate or do you have to connect a separate light for that.
LEDs inside cover will be red apart from some at the bottom of the unit to light the plate (there is a plain patch in the lens for this)......if it's any different when it turns up I'll let you know!
My R&G FEK arrived last week and spent all of 10 mins before being packed back up for return. There is no 'plug and play' wiring loom as promised but there are a bunch of cheap and nasty bullet connectors for the owner to crimp onto the wiring loom that you have to cut from the original fender assembly. Really disappointed with the kit especially for the money.
I got hold of a triumph item, fitted it without the extension. Far nicer kit for less money.
I am kinda on the fence as the whether I am going to do FEK on my new Thruxton R or not. Was looking at the web today and watching some shorts on RACER TV. Ran across a couple of stunning cafe bikes built by Cognito Moto out of my home town or Richmond VA. I looked at their website and these guys have some skills. Looks like they have some Triumph accessories and are putting out a few Thruxton R items including a FEK that utilizes the OE tail light and turn signals. I did not see a pic with the item installed with the OE tail light but I am very interested in seeing how this looks. Just wanted to pass this on as an option.
I ended up going with the NRC FEK with the "tucked" option. They also have a video on their FB.
Only issue is I will have to take off the front blinkers and replace them once I know if the FEK runs on Triumphs LED 1 or 2 setting.
It arrives Wednesday, so I'll have a write up and pictures hopefully up then!
Hey Trevor.....whats the procedure for accessing the led settings?
I received my NRC tucked today....installed....and signals are flashing opposite to the fronts....grr....it's installed right...very simple....hoping the led setting might resolve.
It only comes with the the ecu connector, and two connectors for the plate light.
I assume it's a mistake made during production...if I can fix it myself I'd prefer rather than send it back...I've contacted NRC on FB and I will be reporting on how they respond.
Once I have the issue resolved, il do a full review.
Ok guys, I heard back from Justin at NRC.....it is a production error, but the fix is supposed to be very simple, 30 second to two wires....all units are affected....so if you have one in the mail....you will need to do the fix, or send it back and they will fix it....here's the response I got..
New Rage Cycles
I just figured out the issue
Our connector supplier flip flopped the turn signal wires
White is supposed to be right
Orange is left
Simple fix however
If you take a paper clip and slide out the orange and white wires and flip them, they'll work properly
I'm in the middle of contacting everyone who's kit we shipped last week to let them know the issue
If you aren't comfortable with that we can send you a new lens but swapping the wires will literally take 30 seconds
Very sorry for the hassle as we are very frustrated but happy to have found the issue right away
I appreciate your patience and glad you like the kit
Please let me know
Justin is also making a video to show how to do the fix.
Il do mine when I get home....and let you know how it goes.
Communication had been excellent and Justin has been very apologetic.
I got my Triumph FEK in today. Figured that I'd shoot out some decent photos. The center section as has been discussed is not needed. I'm sure that the kit is fully universal and has all of the parts needed for any location of the world. As you can see, the license plate sits a bit further out and so I'm having my welder modify the unused center section to tuck the plate up close to the brake light and I'll switch it in later. Otherwise the kit is really clean and I like that it looks factory stock.
Where did you order this fek from, and which tail light is that?
I'm leaning toward getting the Cognitomoto fek, mainly so I can use the Triumph short stem LEDs, I would like to use a smaller tail light than the stock one though.
I like the Mototrio fek as well for being able to use a cat eye style tail light, but can't use the Triumph short stem LEDs.
All done and welded up. Really cleaned up the back end. I designed it to use the LED lights for the plate that came in the kit. Everything is tucked up nice.
I REALLY like that! GREAT work! And thanks for posting!
So I suppose I'll just mail you my "Extension" piece, and throw two $20's in the box, and when you're done, just send it back? (You don't even have to do the LED light holes for me... Thanks!!!)
(I wish I could cut metal precisely and paint nice like that, or even weld!)
