I find the stock grips on most bikes give me t-Rex cramps. I put foam grips over the stock grips on my R and then wrapped them in leather. But I either have stupidly large hands and/or am part dinosaur so you probably don't want something so extreme.
I use the foam Grip Puppies on my Japanese bike with skinny grips too. The grips on my Standard Thruxton are bigger than the one on the R and feel fine as they are. I'd probably put the Pups on the R if I had one too.
I bought some of the official barrel ones, but I hated them so they're now sitting in a box.
Why do you want to replace the standard ones? What don't you like?
