Ugh. Immoblizer crapped out

Went out for a nice 200+k ride on Friday. This morning alarm /immoblizer would not go off. Tried everything including both keys. It's obviously the immoblizer as the red alarm light in clock is flashing and won't go off. What a PITA as the dealership Is closed on mondays and it will have to be trucked to dealership. On The brighter side it could have happened on Saturday when I was out on the coast and miles from civilization. Computers, immoblizer, ECU's CanBus , oh for the simpler days.

Masquerading every day as a normal person is exhausting.

There's a recall to do with the immobiliser antenna, details here:

Update in case anyone's interested. On the second day bike started and took her to dealer. SA Max, said the there was a fault code that ecu didn't recognize key. He said to leave it for a day or two to see if they could replicate issue. On second day at dealer the SA went out after several startups with no issues and voila no start. This time a different code indicating the ignition was the problem. Yeaaa. I was really worried that they couldn't find issue and some where out in the boonies it would leave me stranded. New ignition ordered and should have her back late next week. Kudos to my SA for taking the time to research and finally find problem. Marin Speed Shop in San Rafael Ca. Tech said that the ecu on bikes are not as sophisticated as the ones in cars making it more difficult to identify a problem.
saddlebag likes this.
