Hi all. Has anyone sourced longer brake line and cables for a Street Twin, to enable the fitting of higher handlebars? Would like to have a bit more flexibility in that area, and the ABS brake line set up makes that a little tricky.
thanks
I haven't seen it but couldn't you just use that kit along with the Scrambler's bar risers bought separately? Could they not be swapped out with ST risers?
Mototrio has a kit for it, but not full length brake line, Just a short adapter line with 2 banjo fittings bolted together.... it works, but looks bodgy to me.
Great suggestion!
Cables shouldn't be an issue and if the electric connector is compatible then one could just install these three parts with existing bars in combination with taller risers or "bar-backs" as we used to call them.
I'll check this out next time I'm in the local showroom.
I needed a longer hose for my Sprint ST, and HEL in the UK made up a set of appropriate lines with the top one being made +50mm. Just needed to specify it on the order, they emailed back to confirm, and Bob's your chiropodist. Excellent :smile2:
Does anyone know if the front part of the brake line - the bit from the master cylinder to the metal tube - can be replaced separate to the metal tubing?
The brake hose, as discussed, is no big deal. A custom hose can be had for no more than an OEM hose from a different model.
The clutch cable is another story. The lever assembly is basically the same as earlier models in terms of cable fitment. The WC clutch cable now runs under the engine cover which seems like a longer path from earlier models. Here again, the actuator arm seems to have the same cable attachment as previous models.
So if you or someone is feeling adventurous, pop-off one end of your clutch cable and measure the length of -just- the black outer jacket. Report your findings here and I'll see if I have a longer cable lying around. I'll loan it just to verify fitment.
