Hi everyone, I am in the process of ordering a new Street Scrambler, and I wonder of anyone had any of the seat options fitted? There is a 'comfort' seat option, but no picture of it in the configurer on the Triumph website, and the dealer wasn't sure about this either, and couldn't show me one. Anyone have one? Would you mind posting a pic, and an opinion?
The bench seat looks great, but not much padding. Can anyone comment on its comfort for rider and maybe pillion?
Alternatively, any other after market suggestions? Does anyone know if a standard Street Twin seat would fit?
I have had seats custom upholstered before, but I would still need to buy a seat so I'd have a base. Seems an expensive option to buy a bench seat just to use the plastic base.
So here is a quick update for anyone else who has similar issue. I need to carry a pillion AND I'd like a rack, therefore the rack which mounts in place of the pillion seat isn't an option. In order to have the conventionally mounted Street Twin rack on the Street Scrambler the only option is the Twin Dual Seat. This is also described as a 'low rider' seat, so probabaly doesn't have the same thickness of padding as the standard seat, but it does have the comfort mesh padding. Will post a picture when I get the bike.
I purchased the brown ribbed bench seat for the aesthetics moreso the comfort. I can attest that it is not as comfortable as the stock seat for the SS. However, it does provide more ample butt space for a passenger if that's what you're interested in. I rode 4.5 hours this past Saturday at highway speeds on less than ideal roads without much discomfort. I'm a smaller/lighter guy though (5'8", 145). I know that some people on this site have had their seats re-stuffed, so there is that option.
As far as the rack goes, I know there are people that have added bench seats with a luggage rack, but they weren't necessarily Triumph products. If you do a search you will likely find some info/pics of different set ups. Here's a link to one that someone installed...http://shop.tecbikeparts.com/products/street-scrambler-sports-luggage-rackgrab-rail.
You can use the OEM rack with any of the seats to my knowledge, you just have to modify the seats slightly. I have the brown bench seat, and that one just requires the removal of some of the plastic bracing underneath the seat. Doesn't affect the seat at all. There are a few threads on it now. As you can see from the photo below I have the grab rail installed now. Rack installs in the same fashion, so it can work. I'm probably actually going to switch to the rack soon.
As for comfort, I did a 500 mile drive so far on it. Towards the end my butt was hurting, but I also don't have any cushion in my bum! It wasn't a big deal to me though, as I could ship around without a passenger and get into a different position. I am thinking of doing a 48 states trip in a few months, and I'll likely try some riding underwear for that.
I installed the flat seat with a TEC rack. The flat seat is not as comfortable, but the bench seat lets you move around more. For a longer trip I would probably put the solo seat and aluminum rack on which, combined with the TEC rack, would give me more comfort and more places to put luggage. However, around town I like having the bench seat. Luckily everything is easily swapped out in a matter of minutes.
Thanks very much for these useful contributions. I have decided to go with the twin bonnie style seat, and the Triumph rack. I will also have the OEM seat and rack that replaces the pillion seat. So as everything is interchangeable that should just about cover most of my needs. I'm picking the bike up to tomorrow, so will post a couple of pics.
Quick update: I went to my normally excellent Triumph dealer to collect my SS at the agreed time. This is my fourth new Triumph from this dealer. I had ordered the twin seat, the rack, bar end mirrors, and the red paint. The only option that had been fitted was the red paint, and the sales person dealing with my purchase told me that all the other parts were on 'back order'. In my experience this is not good news. No one could tell me when they might be in stock. Not my dealers fault, although I would have appreciated being informed prior to collectin, or being told that the parts were not available prior to ordering and paying for them.
Anyway, back to the seat topic: this obviously meant that my wife had to ride home with me on the the stock pillion seat. Let's just say that after the ride home, which took an hour, she was not happy. Having been on plenty of bikes of all shapes, makes and sizes, she said it was the worst seat she had experienced. I asked my son the ride the bike, and I sat on the pillion. I had, admittedly, already ridden for two hours that day, but I'd had enough of that seat after 5 minutes.
So, I have bought a second hand Street Twin seat on EBay to tide us over until Triumph get their act together, and I look forward very much to receiving my customer satisfaction survey in the email.
well I using the comfort seat on my t120 . I believe is the same mount across the ST , t120, scram...etc.
u can mount the bench meaning u can also on the bench comfort seat.
the comfort seat is firm and plush on the surface... pretty similar to my previous British custom bench .
seated u taller by a bit. v comfortable , even better than my t120 stock seat. stock t120 is already good comfort. this comfort bench is even better.
as I prefer bench fell than stock , like w a step which is cupping the butt.
yup as abv pics u can get a rack, maybe add a classic hepco becker rack for box too....
Thanks very much for the continued input on this. Here's a pic of our new bike with a standard Street Twin Seat, as I still have not got my comfort seat or any of the other optional extras from Triumph. Even though I could have bought them on eBay. Grumble, Mutter......

Has anybody ordered any custom seats for the Street Scrambler from companies like Corbin? It does not seem there is much, if anything, available yet...
As you will see from my earlier post, I bought a second hand Street Twin seat for my Street Scrambler, and it fitted perfectly. Also, the Scrambler dual comfort seat, when it eventually arrived, has an identical seat base to the Street Twin one. Although you have to move the seat release catch to its alternative rearward position, it's likely that any seat made for the Street Twin might fit.
I like the red piping and diamond stitching one this one, although the shape isn't quite right for me because I need a dual seat.
As an aside, I purchased a TEC centre stand, its listed for the ST, not the SS, but fits perfectly. I am hoping that the engine bars fit just as well......
Oh man that gunfighter so totally ticks all the boxes for me as for a cafe style seat for my bike. Now I'm gonna order one. Ugh!
