When I ordered my, still yet to be delivered, T120, I also ordered an A9708409 (Tall fly screen, tinted), along with other accessories, as part of the purchase.
I have just been told ( 30 days later ) that the tinted version of this tall fly screen is not approved for sale in the U.S.
Has anyone else had this come up? Just curious. The dealer said I could only have a clear version.

There are quite a few accessories Triumph make for the new Water-Cooled Bonnevilles that aren't allowed to be sold here in the US.
I got my blinkers, Rear Fender Kit, etc. all from Triumph dealers in the U.K., since they are allowed to sell them. You have to wait an extra week for it to be shipped half across the globe. But at least you get what you want.
I provided a link below that shows that World-Of-Triumph sell the item you want. They are out of the U.K... Plenty of members on here in North America order from him, and I have heard only positive... Also, you can scroll to the bottom of that page I provided, and simply click the "Contact Us" tab... Just ask him if his ware house shows that item # in stock for him to ship to you... He always responds in less than a day. I'm sure he has it. Roughly the same prices you would have paid here, but tax free... However, you obviously have to pay shipping. http://www.worldoftriumph.com/triumph_part_number_lookup.php?partdes=A9708409+
Yes, I know I can ( and have ) ordered certain things from the U.K., as you describe.
My question was more about this specific item. It was listed on the Triumph USA site in the section where you can configure a new bike with various accessories. It clearly listed this taller smoked fly screen as an available accessory. I am asking if any forum members have bought one, or had been unable to buy one. I'm trying to discover if the information from my dealer is B.S. ( never happens, right? ), or not.
Coincidently, they have a clear version in stock.
I was looking also at the smoked tall screen for my new T 120, it's shows it was not yet available yet.
Went with the clear happy so far, does what I was looking for. Looks good on the bike not to big to distract for the clean look of the bike.

Oh, sorry about all that nonsense I typed up there then.
There were a few items that I wanted for my new Thrux that were on the configurer, then off, then back on, and are now off again. You have to remember, the people that run that site probably don't even have their motorcycle license, let alone give a crap about bikes. They just want money for a shiny new selfie-stick & earbuds to walk around in public with, or new sneakers to wear with a funeral suit . (W-the-F?!)
In your case, I might actually believe the dealer, in your case.
I could definitely see how someone who never rode a bike before, bought this as their first bike, let the clutch out too fast, and drove into the front of their own car in the driveway... And then blamed it on the windshield being too high to be that tinted, hence hampering their vision. Or maybe it's just some weird North America DOT thing. For example, the triumph LED signals are a million times more visible day or night, and much easier to grab a twitter-text-driver's attention because of how suddenly they illuminate vs the standard bulb signals.... But because they can be wired to strobe (like a volunteer fireman for example), they aren't approved over here. So who knows. If their is the slightest chance sue-happy crap... They just won't offer it. No matter how dumb the reason. Cheers.

No apology necessary at all! This forum is read by many who don't actually post, but read and get tons of useful information from it. Your post probably informed many about how buying from the U.K. allows one to get stuff that isn't available at U.S. dealers.
As a matter of fact, yesterday, I received my LED turn signal set from a U.K. dealer. A couple of weeks ago, I scored a Triumph Cafe Racer jacket from the U.K., that was unobtanium anywhere! At a discount, no less.
I recently posted on a different thread about how to break a chain and remove a link. The OP seemed to be a newbie and I know that 95% of the other readers would know how to do this, but maybe there were some who didn't.
I appreciate your willingness to help, and to post useful information.
Cheers,
Bill
