I've done a bunch of mainly cosmetic mods on my Street Twin alongside a decat with the freespirits xpipe.
Now i'm starting to look at the shocks. Easiest thing would be to go for the Triumph backed aftermarket Fox shocks but these seem pretty pricey, so I was thinking Hagons, Ikon's or something else. I know there has been some theoretical discussions but has anyone actually had these on a Street Twin and what are they like?
Thanks for the input!
I have Hagons on the rear of my Bonneville SE Newchurch. They're 'basic road shocks' very good value, they have 3 presets, I specified rider weight so springs to match, and run with min preset. They do just what I wanted. I found Hagon to be very helpful, I'd start by giving them a ring. Not suggesting these are necessarily right for you, you may want rebound adjustment ...
ps. you're starting at an advantage, street twin has more travel than Newchurch which is a bit limited that way.
Thanks that is super useful, I'll do that! I am a little surprised that it seems that so few Street Twin owners have started playing with suspension upgrades yet.
I installed Hagon Nitro twins on my 1200 cc Thruxton (standard). They are fairly new but I can say the ride quality improvement was immediately noticeable. The weather has prevented spirited riding but the little I have been able to do gives me the expected planted feeling I was lacking in the factory shocks, much akin to the more expensive Ohlins I have on my Sprint ST.
P.s. I sent Dave a pic of my bike with the shocks, which is posted in the link, above. This commentary is not a paid endorsement or in any way comes from any quid pro quo. I am just a happy customer.
It's really surprising that on the modern classics the only one with decent suspenders is the Thruxton R. I think consumers would be willing to pay a little more for even basic adjustability. Add a grand to Street Cup or Twin and they are still a good deal for a great bike.
I would have been willing 2 pay a grand or two more had the ST had showa big piston forks up front, dual front discs, 180 rear tire and a bit more zing in the power dept.
How hard would it be to transfer everything from a yamaha xsr 900 to a street twin frame?
TEC shocks from Uk are perfect. I've had Hagon and Progressive and YSS and TEC are much better.

Highly recommended. He buys the shocks in and strips and upgrades the internals prior to selling them.
I say buy once, cry once lol. Look into Matris, Ohlins or the Fox shocks, all the premium units are going to be a bit pricey $500-700 range. The Fox units are 8mm higher so keep that in mind. The Ohlins have adjustable heights I believe up to 350mm, and the Matris units can be ordered OEM, or 10mm lower or higher.
"Anyway, as a ST owner myself, I do wish it had more power. Wether I would trade "up" to a T120 is debatable because that extra power comes at the expense of substantial additional weight, and more demure looks."
I wholly agree with you. Sure wish Triumph had kept that "race kit" on offer, with more aggressive camshaft, air filter and engine map. >
When you have a toothache, do you go around shopping for the cheapest Dentist?
Suspension & brakes are two areas on a modern motorcycle where it is well advised to spend more to get quality components, as your life literally depends on it.
Somewhere around here is a photo of a cheap Chinese made piggyback shock snapped in half. On Speedzilla are threads about cheapass levers snapping in two and warped low-buck brake rotors. Learn from other's pain.
So how much do you gain from the racing kit? Do yoi get new cams and two independent throttle bodies? Would be nice if there was a review on utube of the race kit on an stwin
Will the Fox shocks interfere with saddlebag fitment?
Thanks
