Hello to all, I have been searching all over the internet, with little success in finding a service manual for my 2016 Thruxton 1200 standard. Can anyone give me a site to go to for buying a service manual. I know Dealers will have them but, looking outside right now.

Long story short, going forward you have to pay for time on the website, download digitally, and print. There are no more physical manuals going forward. The other option is to wait a couple years for a Hanes.
If you use the Microsoft Edge browser, when you select Print, the Print window will appear, and in the upper left hand corner, there is a Printer selection drop-down menu that allows you to "Microsoft Print to PDF".
JB - It lools like the Mac gives you the ability to print to a PDF, however Windows 7 Firefox didn't give me that option. I've found that a .xps file to PDF conversion is available so that's what I'll do. Cheers
If you use the Chrome browser on a PC you can print to PDF. That's what I did naming each one the same as the title on the site. I also used folders as Dugal did.
It took me about the same 3.5-4hrs to do it working fast and keeping everything in order.
I paid the $40 for a full day and figured that was still less than I've paid for other factory service manuals, but...... that doesn't include my labor time. So considering that, the other ones are less expensive and certainly easier.
The best was my Husky manuals, the dealer just popped my USB stick in his 'puter and down loaded all of them, Owner's, Service, and Parts manuals.
That's one of the reasons I'm disillusioned by triumph. First they started demanding crazy prices for the accessories, now this.
It's apparent that triumph wants to squeeze every dollar from their loyal customers. I'm in my 2nd and final triumph.
The issue isn't affordability of these extras. It's the feeling of getting ripped off.
Had i known this beforehand I'd have gotten something else.
I think triumph went in this direction cuz they want a pro to download the entire manual and then sell it for $5 a copy. Or even give it out for free. If yoi know what I'm sayinh
Steal copyright material from Triumph? Surely not. It's their's, they can set the prices as they like. Downloading it and giving it away is stealing from them.
Not that I care actually, but distributing such copyright-infringed materials on this site is verboten, and I expect coordinating such nefarious activities here would be frowned upon as well.
While I was on vacation this time I was talking to someone who produces/sells service manuals...he doesn't think there would be a high enough demand for him to produce a hard copy.
This is his email to me...
The new Triumph manuals are not environmentally friendly-wastes lots of paper. To make a black and white copy would be almost a 1000 pages. That is HUGE-to make and to ship. Double sided would cut it in half. My opinion is demand for the manual is low because only a handful of people have asked me for it.

None of that takes into account the licensing fee Triumph would charge a 3rd party publisher for the rights to reproduce it, assuming they'd even entertain the idea in the first place. Which they probably wouldn't, since it would undercut their subscription based model currently in place.
The licensing fee will therefore be prohibitively expensive to deter publishers from even wanting to participate.
Like others have said, our best bet is waiting for it to hit the pirate sites. This is an inevitable unintended consequence of Triumph's (or anyone else's) overly restrictive licensing model on information that wants to be free.
What I find annoying is the format, it's divided into 100's of separate pdf's, some a single page with just a couple of lines of text. I'd rather it came downloadable as a single pdf file. It could then be loaded into a Kindle or similar electronic book. The current air-cooled manual, all 560 pages of it, can be put into an Amazon Kindle, even an old disused one, in seconds.

I downloaded the whole manual for the 2016 Thruxton R, including all the current service bulletins, the diagnostic software and it's manual, all in 3 hours. So it was very cheap. I even combined all the individual PDF's into one single PDF so the only problem that remains is the internal links won't work.
You can't use that software. Firstly it requires you buy a $1200 Actia OBD2 adapter with special firmware to work with the Triumph software, then you need a dealer login for Tritun to enable the options in the software and download the tunes for the bike.
Even the cable is no longer officially available through the dealerships. They've really clamped down on being able to do anything with the system.
Best you can do for now is to buy a DealerTool. It doesn't do everything, such as updating tunes, but covers the stuff you need for servicing, such as resetting the 'spanner' indicator and bleeding the ABS system.
Will the cable used with TuneEcu work with Triumph software? What are the benefits or difference between the TuneEcu and Triumph software for Bonnveille needs?. I got the cable which work with TuneEcu and I am quite content with it as it provides all the basic diagnostic and fault codes + I can loan maps and do ECU reset and TPS reset/adaption.
No, totally different cable and protocol, and TuneECU won't work on the water-cooled models. Don't try as it can result in a locked ECU. Perhaps one day the TuneECU guys might manage to break the access codes...
I know this is an old thread but I found it while looking for a manual. I see Haynes has one now for the Street Scrambler, but the picture of the Street Twin on the cover does not inspire confidence.
The print version covers all the models below. So, trust me. You'll be very happy with the Haynes manual for your bike whether you get the online or print version. Not only is it the only game in town, but Haynes manuals are both service manuals plus *repair* manuals as well (what you download from Triumph are service manuals only). Haynes are always very good.
You are correct. I saw that after adding it to the cart and going to checkout. I have one on the way now. Seems odd they put the 1200 models in the same book too.
Has anyone else stumbled upon this site? It has the manual on there and so far it’s been free to look at. Pain in the butt to browse on my phone though...
Yes but that is just a basic "owner's manual"... not a service manual... which is what we all would like to see on line somewhere!! LOL!
I have the Haynes T120 et al service manual and it is really just passable.... even though I'd gladly pay $50-$75 for a printed factory service manual (formally called an FSM) from Triumph, ..... eventually, I'll be one of those that get stuck spening countless hours downloading hundreds of files from Triumph because they are too stupid or selfish to put one in print, like they ALWAYS did in the past. Bastardos.
Note to triumph: a service manual is not just a perk for me, it;s 100% essential. And till i read this thread just now i was dead determined to buy a street cup. This changed my mind to the point my current triumph may be my last. You just lost a sale unless this changes at some point and i haven't bought something else by then. Thanks for nothing. Geez....
Depends what you want; - or need. It tries to cover all WC models so can be a bit confusing and like all Haynes manuals it has errors and omissions. I down loaded the Triumph manual from Tritun, and in conjunction with the Haynes manual my needs are covered.
Despite frequent references to the Triumph down load being a hassle I found it pretty straightforward. I will never be doing jobs like removing the engine from the frame, or dismantling the engine or gearbox, so I just selected the sections I will use which I downloaded in an hour easily. In the unlikely event that I do decide to strip the engine I can always go back and download the appropriate section at that time.
The problem with the Triumph manual is that it does not actually give much information beyond "undo bolt, remove item, replace item, tighten bolt". This is where the Haynes manual does fill in some gaps.
I got my Haynes from eBay seller gtmotorstore101 and can recommend them - price was good and service excellent.
I didn't read the whole thread, i guess i missed that. Is it any good? I had one about 10-15 years ago and found it kinda useless compared to the triumph manual i got afterwards. Neither is great, but i found myself pretty much never going for the haynes. I guess it should do tho.
This is BS from triumph tho. Damn thing should come with the bike. They can't expect you to have the dealer work on it because your dealer will drop the line long before you sell you bike. Happened to me 3 times already with my last 2 bikes ! Now there are no dealers anywhere close so i have to do my own work no matter what, and given that, the fact i have to jump thru hoops for a manual is utter nonsense. They have a lot to learn about CS.
So, I made it this far without the shop manual. Seems as if my time has come. Anyone know where to get one for a 2017 Bonneville T120 on-line? Or should I just buy one off Amazon?
