Street Cup - oh my!

Saw one in person today. As much as I love my Street Twin, this baby is even better. Dare I say it would be my dream bike if I had the budget?

Ergonomics are perfect - a bit more upright than my old CBR F4i, but more sporty than my Twin. The perfect balance. And GORGEOUS!

They told me to bring my gear next time so I could take it for a spin :grin2:

Yep - if the new Thrux line hadn't been invented, that would have been the bike for me. Really nice. Or a Tiger... Hell, I'd take one of each :) I'm definitely jealous of those with a budget for a garage full of these.

Edit: If I recall, you could basically convert your twin to a cup with a seat and bars (or go even more cafe with some clipons), and you'd really only be missing the slipper clutch and suspension. Unless there's a mechanical difference I'm forgetting about.

The cafe bars have a very small drop, the handlebars are still slightly above the top of the forks, it's very clever, gives the look of a cafe but look at where the hands actually are, it's pretty upright.

My 2017 Street Cup

http://youtu.be/KB2-LEXxpDk

I haven't seen any owner Street Twin Cup bikes anywhere on YouTube so I made this brief video of mine with a de-cat kit, Hurricane performance stainless steel air cleaner and a remapped ECU based on the new airflow.

The sound is not substantially louder, but is a bit deeper. Power is better, though I've yet to have any confirmed HP increase. The Triumph dealer here in Thailand suggested it could be about a 12-15% increase although I suspect it wouldn't be quite that much.

It definitely feels stronger and turns some heads too.
My apologies for the low quality, the video is a simple one from my old phone and I've no external mike for sound, it's also the only video I've ever made for the public... :)

At the end of the video, I made mention of the sound and wished to thank any viewers for watching. Thank you again.

Changes:
- De-cat bypass kit (catalytic converter removed)
- Hurricane performance stainless steel air cleaner

Do you know anything about the new ECU map? Is a Triumph map or aftermarket? If aftermarket, does it use a device like a Power Commander, of were they able to hack into the OEM ECU?

Newbie with his Cup

Thanks everyone who likes the video. For me, this bike is exceptional, even amazing and I'm having a great time learning all about her. It was suggested to me that I visit and post about rides/reviews on another forum topic, but since I'm new to this site I may not be able to easily find my way around nor offer links.... but I'll try to make it easy for anyone interested.

I hope this here is the link I posted later today. it's the same video, but a bit of information as well. Please bare with me as I learn my way around this forum and how to use it. thanks again.

Since I live in Thailand, I'll post photos of places once I figure out how to do so from my iPad. :)

I think my buddy might have taken delivery of the first Street Cup in the US. He's had it for two weeks now. He also has a Thrux R. We rode together yesterday, with him on his SC and me on my T120. He has the yellow and gray SC scheme. The colors really pop when you see the bike in person.

Like all of the recent Triumph introductions, the fit and finish of everything on the SC approaches perfection. The matching yellow coach lines on the wheel rims don't show up in most photos, and are really beautiful. He says that he doesn't find himself wishing for a sixth gear. He does like rear set pegs, though, and the SC's are in the same place as the Street Twin. There is a set of factory installed passenger pegs, but the factory set up is a solo seat with a rear cowl. The bike does not have rider modes or traction control, but likely these are just not needed. He says handling approaches perfection. His only other comment is that the extra power causes the Thrux to really "jump', which the SC does not do, though power is more than adequate.

It looks like the SC has the same Pirelli Phantom Sports Comp tires as my T120.

I sat on his SC but have not yet ridden it. The seat is very low (I'll estimate 27") and the riding position is not extreme at all.

His new SC really drew a crowd at our lunch stop, though the Triumph purists in the crowd seemed more drawn to the T120. They were astounded at its 1,200cc displacement.

.......
The setup for the seat is simply a cover over the pillion seat. Removing the seat with the key release and under it there are two 5mm Allen bolts quickly removed with the supplied Allen key on the back of the left side cover.

It does have traction control, you can turn it off or on via the info button. But it's correct that there are no rider modes as the Thruxton has (and those settings only reduce the rate of fuel and by varying the throttle responce time on the throttle).

I can assure you there s plenty of 'jump' on the SC. With traction control turned off the wheel will still be off the ground in second gear.... ;)
