Mounting Handlebar Mirrors for ST

Is there any reason I should not mount my CRG Hindsight LS mirrors directly to my handlebar and then screw the end cap on the outside? I'm not super thrilled with the way it looks, but I could get a different color end cap. I've attached a picture of what I mean.

Basically, can anyone tell me why this is a bad idea? I'm not usually the brightest bulb in the box and so I'm sure there's something I haven't thought about here. Also, if anyone has a way to make this idea better I would definitely appreciate that as well! Thanks!

I did that as well after installing CRG Lanesplitters on my Street Twin. The only thing you need to do is make sure the right end cap is not interfering with the throttle. With the bike turned off, roll on the throttle (twist it) as far as you can and let go allowing the throttle to snap back. If there is no binding, you're good to go. If it does bind, slightly loosen the end cap screw and test again. You will find that happy spot.

Meanwhile, test the throttle snap-back occasionally before you ride. On a side note, I have since replaced my stock end caps with Triumph black end caps for the simple reason I think they look better.

Should have included (just so we're all on the same page here), if you need to loosen the throttle end cap screw, back the end cap ever-so-slightly and re-tighten. Again, You'll find the happy or sweet spot. I never had mine come loose but again you'll want to check occasionally that the end cap is still tight. Hope this too helps.

Well I got it attached and it seems to be fine when I tested it on the road. I haven't attached the throttle side yet.

Whathisface, were you able to mount it so that the mirror could be folded in for lane splitting? My end cap seems to interfere with that feature.

I did the same thing as Whatshisface with the stock caps. They work great as long as you are careful with the throttle play as mentioned above and tighten the mirror clamps before you tighten the end cap. Will probably get the black caps eventually as well as they do look better, but the stock caps work fine.
