Got my T120BLK 3 weeks ago. It's a 2017. The only difference is they moved a clip holding a brake line, during dealer prep. Or at least that's what I was told. It looks exactly the same as the 2016 T120BLks that are on the floor.
If it's not too much trouble, would like to see how the clip was moved. The right front brake line on my T120 drags on the fork gaiter. There's a clip and a rubber bushing, but I don't see an obvious way to fix the problem.
There was a Bulletin from Triumph regarding a front line clip on the Street Twins. Supposedly could slide down line and rub againt front fender / mudguard paint. A Triumph salesman ran my VIN while I was at his dealership about a month ago. It took him roughly 3 seconds to remove said clip (I believe that is what he did? I really didn't pay attention to what he was doing), until he joked Triumph just paid them .01 book hours for this repair. I'm wondering if this is the same clip issue on T-120's?
I think what's pictured are the plastic clips on the brake and speedo lines. On my T120, the right brake line is rubbing on the right gaiter. I guess I could fix the problem by using a tie wrap around both brake lines, but it would look pretty poor.
Interesting yours is a 17 and they have started arriving. Talked to a dealer yesterday and he said 17's won't show up until Octoberish. Maybe I should call another dealer.
Yeah, that is weird. None of the dealerships here in Phoenix are listing any 2017 models and I went on the Triumph website and they don't show their 2017 models yet, just a mention that the 2017 Street Twins will be selling for a $1400 increase!! In just one year. :frown2:
Waiting for my matte black 17. They are out. They say patience is a virtue. I'm dying though. Jealous you got yours. They have a jet black on floor but I've landed on the matte black..... Almost said screw it and went with what they had, but resisted.....
Can not wait. Was worried that size was going to bug me, but everyone says he size is a virtue.... I'm sold.
Yea I am enjoying mine, just getting a feel for its nature and quirks this weekend, already did over 100 miles since getting it yesterday. It does feel much smaller than the T120/100 to me. So far I don't have any serious complaints. I do think it is a bit buzzier at 70mph or so than I would like but I know that just comes with the territory with these bikes. I do think the bike looks much better in person than in pictures.
It's just a "baby". The parts have had no time to get acquainted. The 865's took a good 5,000 miles to break in and smooth out a bit. I'd expect you'll notice a few nice changes after the first service with heavier oil, latest downloads and adjustments provided you have a decent dealer. Mention everything you've noticed when you take it in. Get back to us afterwards.
I just bought a 2017 T120 a little over 2 weeks ago. The salesman wrote it up as a 2016, when I was with the finance manager the VIN and paperwork showed 2017. I got lucky. Great dealership to work with. When I was shopping around, I had "out the door" quotes of $13,200, $13,100. I got this bike for just under $12,800 out the door. PA has 6% sales tax.
I think the increase is supposed to be around $400.
This is really interesting. I was just at my local dealer yesterday. I asked the Sales Manager when the 2017's were arriving. Was told Pre-Orders will be filled first sometime in late August / early October. Starting to think this must be a Triumph thing? After-all, we are talking about the motorcycle company notorious for taking it's sweet-a** time sending bikes and accessories over-seas. On the other hand; from years of past experience with Milwaukee Iron, everyone was always on the same page when it came to new models and options. Just the same, I am really interested to see the rumored 2017 Speedmaster Bobber.
I'm curious about this price increase too. $1400 seems like waaaay too much. There are a few 16 Street Twins about 150 miles from me, and my local dealer is sold out. He told me not to expect more until next spring. My head is spinning. Who should I believe here? My local dealer is pretty great to work with, but I'm wanting to buy an ST or T120 in the next two weeks.
Dealers have allocations. Yours could well be sold out. If you like yours, ask him whether he can swap/buy one of those bikes you found. Might happen. If not, he won't likely hold it against you if you buy elsewhere and service later with him. Worth a try.
Scott told me that they didn't even have this bike on order. The just received an email from Triumph saying it would arrive the next day.
I'm thinking that they are allocating the early release models to dealerships who sold out quickly. It just makes sense to ride the wave of positive press releases and magazine articles.
