triumph making an appearance in my life middle of winter in oz so still have time to choose which one any thoughts good or bad appreciated
Great article, I haven't seen a bad review of them yet. I am from Sydney and with the backdrop in the photos, I think I found somewhere to ride my t120 too.
To me it sounded a bit like a "fluff" piece about the T120. I have one and like it a lot too, but... I think the better test reports are when the T120's are compared to whatever other bikes that are around today. In my own test rides back to back with my T100, I would say the T120 is heads and shoulders better than the air cooled ones in most every way, but then again, I have an '08 carbie, so it's not an EFI bike.
I take some exception to their comment that: "With acres more chrome and very little plastic bolstering the ranks, it feels like a more capable, more impressive bike than before, even before you saddle up." I would say there are acres of plastic if they looked around a bit more. Nothing wrong with plastic, it sure won't rust or dent, but there is a lot of it on the bike, which is ok, I guess.
Interesting that the reviewer didn't like that the bike doesn't remember whatever display or setting that he was using on the next engine start. I see that as a plus since the baseline is always the same.
Other than the side covers and the front fender, where's the plastic? For instance, pull one of the induction covers and you'll see that it is a beautifully made and finished aluminum casting. It could easily have been a thin steel stamping, but it's not.

Yes there has been a lot of complaints about the LCD defaults, even worse on the Thrux as the you have to alter the LCD and rider mode every time you get on. It is no big deal but I wish manufacturers would take a leaf out of the digital camera makers book and offer customisation of the display as an option. Maybe splitting the display into 3 segments and allowing the rider to decide which bit of info goes in each segment. It would cost very little to do. I would have gear indicator, clock and either mpg or total miles. I am sure I will never use either trip now the bike has a fuel gauge and 'miles to empty' on the other LCD.
I'll add my two cents to the auto reset of the multi-function display. I do hope there is a software upgrade for this in the works. My Tiger Explorer 1200 has way more options on its MFD and whenever I turn on the ignition it comes up right where I left it, so Triumph does know how, and is capable of, doing the same for the Bonnevilles. It may be a minor gripe, but it's like a big red zit on the nose of a beautiful woman.
Especially when it is such as easy thing to do. I dunno, maybe it was planned this way. "Hey gang, let's design in some weird thing that is easy to fix, but really pisses off the owners. That way when we fix it we can take great credit for listening to our customers."
in sth oz only one dealer but will price in other states work for a national company so any transport not a problem
thanx for advice
