Will be getting the new Street Twin shortly. Only concern is the possibility of it throwing off too much heat. Probably wait for a hot day to demo one. Does anyone have experience riding one at low speed in 80 degree temps?>
These bikes will give off no more heat than any other of a similar displacement. Shouldn't be a concern. Because of the water cooling, you might even notice that those engine parts closest to you (head, fins) run cooler. No one's complaining so far.
I ride in Florida heat all the time. The bike is fine. I noticed a little heat through my boots at the ankle but nothing outrageous. I did 350 miles the first day and 50 the second all miles during the middle of the day.
I also have a Yamaha Bolt it gives off WAY more heat a complete nut roast at the lights by comparison.
Between the Bonnieville and my GS, the bonnie puts out more heat.
Is it horrible, shoe melting? No, you just notice it, but its not going to lower your sperm count.
Very much appreciate the feedback. Had a few bikes that were uncomfortable. GS with the cylinders down low naturally was the coolest. Going for a ride on a summer day should cool you off, not make you even warmer.
Seriously, on the hottest of summer days, I never fond hear to slow down the engine performance of a modern Triumph classic twin. But when I rode Harleys, heat just killed their performance.
I did some riding in 87 degree weather the past couple days, when the fan kicks on while sitting at a light, you will feel a blast of hot air coming straight out the sides in the front part of the engine... I noticed if I move my legs back a few inches out of the blast zone it is not too bad.
Have a ST for 3 months to date. I just confirm that at 30 deg. C ambient, I get a cooking stream of hot air notably when then cooling ventilator runs ... Furthermore: my head lamp reflector is starting to burn on the upper side
whilst severely damaging the outer mirror coating ...
