I don't want you people over on the air cooled side.

We ran out of rooms.

I'm air-cooled 2x's and check things out here because I think the new bikes are cool and interesting. That said, I'm still smitten with my bikes and don't have any compelling reasons to move to the new models, but I do appreciate that the new models are attracting as much attention as they are.

You all have my lowly open invitation to come as often as you like to the "Air-Cooled" forum. Maybe I'll join you on this side as a "Water-cooled" guy in a few years.

Suspect you're in a distinct minority. Searching for "fixes" when the bikes have little in common would be a nightmare!

Is it just me, or has anyone else had the same thought - the water cooling is such a radical change from the original that the new range of machines cannot really be called Bonnevilles. Indeed, I have noticed that Triumph have dropped the name on the new range and It doesn't seem to appear anywhere on the bikes.

I know, and understand the need for water cooling, mainly to comply with manufacturers regulations, but in my view, this makes the ST and T120 "Bonnevilles" only by styling implication.

I "did" Ripper, but only for a moment. Realizing that it is no different than the transition to the "Oil Cooler":wink2:

Change is hard for most of us.
Despite this, they did a great job with the new "Classic" lineup.
How good will be determined. Not all "change" pans out, for the better.
I initially think they will be successful, albeit ............. I expect a few "hurdles" the first couple of years. Hopefully nothing serious though.

That being said .............. I like an "analog" motorcycle, respectively.
I am good with the Electronic Ignition, Starter, and even the Overhead Cams. And yet .............. even they aren't "necessary".

These "Bonnevilles" were once talked about under the same shadow.:wink2:

I think they're a great addition to the 21'st century, but , for my they made the motors more for cruisers and the tbird has that covered. I love the style and can see Triumph selling out for the next 3 years. I understand why the 865 guys are disappointed though because the character is more harley and less bonneville. I don't even own a Triumph right now but if I survive the superduke experience I'll be back.

I got you beat on the Corvair. I sold a restored 1964 Monza Spider with factory GM Knock offs on it. Plus, it also came with the factory turbo from GM and the power convertible top also. With all the stock interior that's in prefect shape, no holes in the door where people like to put speakers, stock am radio that still works, stock dashboard, with no cracks, stock GM tac that's mounted on the dashboard. I had the the wire rims sealed, so that I can run tubeless tires. All the interior is prefect. I also rebuilt the motor and the stock GM Turbo works better than the two carbs, that most Corvairs came with. Plus, I've got all the trim too. The Best part is, that I only paid 400.00 bucks for it and I put five grand into restoring it. Then I sold it for twelve thousand. Not too bad, I fill. Now, I wish that I hadn't sold it. Because, it was a really great car. No disrespect, but that looks like a 1969 Corvair and not a 1964 Corvair. The 1964 Corvairs were more boxy looking.

Back on Topic , I must add

I traded in my 2013 Bonneville towards my new Triumph Street Scrambler ( notice I didn't call it a Bonneville, cuz it don't say bonneville nowhere on it.

and my old one was faster I think and it didn't have a ring around it's balls power curve , but I actually do love the new one for what it CAN do and that is more smiles per hour and WAY more miles per gallon. I also know that if triumph don't fix the cam others will have that issue sorted out shortly so I can wait either way. But the brakes were shid on both of them and either one of them needs better shocks and springs so I'm no snob in thinking this SS is going to be stock for long. I have sorted out the esthetics and packaging and accessories pretty much the way it will be and patiently waiting to exhale and take on curing the front end and slightly understated power curve that is lacking in upper rpm delivery.

So I feel comfortable in bouncing back and forth between forums as needed for , uh , entertainment such as this thread is providing. So keep it up fellers and make me laugh.

cheers
Stixx
