Question about VIN-/Motor number

Hi, along to my 1967 T120 I bought today a 1970 T120R. But I have a few questions concerning the VIN- and Motor numbers.

First of all, the VIN/ Frame number reads "AD38540 T120R". But to my records, I can not assign it to any of the T120R models! Any help on this I would really appreciate.

Next thing is the motor number which reads "ND-30752". But it's clearly visible, that the last two digits were overstamped. So the original number should be read "ND-30770". Check the attached photos ...

The bike was imported from the USA to Germany in 1996.

So once again, thanx for all your help ...

Of course, the actual vintage of the engine was the overstamped "70" number.

Most authorities will look for the frame number first. Typically, the title follows the frame.

"AD" would indicate January 70 build
"ND" would indicate October 69 (for Model year 70).

Both are consistent for a 1970 Model T120R but the engine has been changed at some point.

People often overstamp numbers on stolen engines and frames by the way.

People overstamp numbers to make a mismatched "bitsa" bike match up. Illigitimate, but not always due to theft. Sometimes you've got to buy a replacement engine if you blow yours up.
