Maintenance free battery.

Hi folks. I just got my first Brit bike since I sold my 1967 Norton Atlas in 1973. It's a 1966 Trophy with 6,000 original miles. The battery is 14 years old with 1.5 volts remaining. I've been using Oddessy batteries in my BMW airhead and I like the cca power and the maintenance free aspect. Any body got a recommendation for an AGM battery that will fit my Triumph? I looked at a Yuasa YTZ7S, but it sure is small and would take a lot of shimming.

Thanks a lot!

Curtis

You only need about 7 amps with lucas lighting, so a small AGM battery is fine.

Battery box

Thanx to Paul I installed a Yuasa YTZ7S battery in my new to me TR6R. Wow! 1st kick starts. Does someone make a fake battery box to hold this little battery? right now I've got it shimmed with pieces of redwood. Sorry, but I'm a newbie.

I used some dense rubber sanding blocks trimmed with a bread knife to shim mine. I think it adds some extra vibration damping.
