Question Mikuni's for T140 1979

Hey all, I'm building a bike up with a T140 1973 motor, and have a 1979 head. I'd like to use Mikuni's but it looks like the kits or options are for the earlier splayed intakes. Mine are parallel. Any ideas? Is it just the intake filter dia. that determines what will work? Thanks!

My 81 ES has parallel intakes and is running on a pair of Mikunis, I can take some pictures if you like.. The inlet rubbers are very similar to those used to mount Amal Mk2 carbs and I would imagine the standard ones would work fine . The two carbs are braced together with a bolt.
I'd contact Allens in the UK and ask them what you need. No idea why they only list carbs to suit a T140V (splayed inlets). There was a TRIUMPH BONNEVILLE T140E - 1980 on ebay up to 20th Sept that also had Mikuni's fitted

70trophy,

yes it is the filters that becomes the problem with this setup.
I am running VM32s on a 79 head. A tight squeeze indeed. I
had to file the bowl flanges a bit to get the carburators parallel.
Otherwise they would spread out by a few degrees. I found no
filters that fit well, so I went back to the stock air filter box and
used a rubber hose to make the connection from carburator to
air box. However in your case I would say you are working on a
1970Trophy so the frame is different and used seperated air
filters. So you may have to get inspired on the filter end of things.

Thanks guys, that helps. I can use the VM32s, or at least can base my choice on that size. I'm using the 73 t140 frame. I though K&N used to make tapered filters with offset inlets, not sure, but I'm sure I can find something. The 70 trophy was last year, this one is this winter's project

My setup uses K & N's, all the airbox stuff has been removed and the side panels still fit (with their horrid springs). Shropshire Classics in the UK are another place selling Mikunis for T140's
